Hi everyone,

I bought a telecaster 58 vintage serie and I need your help to authenticate (or not) this guitar. The serial on the plate seems legit, here are the neck pocket inscriptions:

Thanks!

Hope that stamp doesn't say "Fernandes". Although Fernandes did make some of the better Japanese Fender clones back in the 70s and 80s.

How about a headstock shot?

The stamp seems to start with an "H", so I read that as "Hernandes" or maybe "Hernandez"
On the pics, I'd like to see the neck end (date stamp?) plus full body&neck pics.

And: contact Fender with the serial number to get the original factory specs - although their response time seems to be stretching. consumerrelations@fender.com

The date stamp seems to say Aug 21 2018, which is unlikely unless this is a Gallifreyan model, so I'd go with a smudgey 2013.

Why are the pictures blown up so hard? They have severe jpeg artifacts from having been blown up from a smaller jpeg. Creating a large jpeg from a small jpeg is just as bad as resampling an mp3 at a higher bitrate: you don't gain anything, and only introduce more quality loss.

Anyhow, pictures of the whole guitar would be useful. As well as a description of what you expect it to be.

+1, more pics needed.
We're not that blind, back-off the macro/zoom button a tad.
I would guess that last date digit to be a 2,3 or 5...

After some image processing, I believe the date is 2012.
Also tried to figure out that peculiar "stamp" under the number 4 in the neck pocket, and then I realized it's a mirror bleed from the neck's "58" MagicMarker...

Yes, my new 58 Tele has the same number stamps. I believe yours is authentic. Note the gap at the end of the rosewood strip as well.

Sorry for the delay, I'm still here! And sorry for the crappy huge photos: I posted from a phone and it looked quite ok at the time but it's obviously awful on a PC screen.

Thanks for checking: you're the second person telling me that the stamps seem to be accurate. The body and the neck are also accurate (I'll post a picture when possible). The finish on the body and neck is a thin nitrocellulosic one (at least the top coat). I definitely think it's the real deal. I got it for around 800$ with the goodies but without the original case. The previous owner did some questionable relicing on it (thus the price tag and my interrogations) .

800? That's a great price. I paid $1500 new scratch and dent, had a broken switch.
