I was barely able to resist the GAS from last year's special run rosewood neck Strats. The Daphne Blue model called to me all year but I already had a great looking Sonic Blue American Vintage '61 Strat. Be fiscally responsible... be fiscally responsible. I was but I pledged that if there was a special run rosewood neck Tele with a classic car finish it would be mine. Thanks Fender. :D

Where did you find that guitar, John?
I didn't think they were actually out yet.

Definitely a full on congrats. It was an, ahem, fiscally responsible purchase because I traded a Gibson Les Paul Special for it. (That's excuse number one on my GAS justification list.)

Surf/Seafoam Green has always been one of my favorites. The online promotional material from Fender says the finish is Surf Green but the shipping box said Seafoam. I would be confused if I wasn't having so much fun playing it.

Guitar Center, Scottsdale, Arizona. I was surprised to see it available so soon after NAMM, too.

GC sent me a message about the Tele last Saturday and said it was available for in store pickup. Okay, I'm on the way. I'm easy. :)

Is there no Fender logo on the headstock, or does it just not show up in your picture?
Also, what kind of string tree is that?
It would be great if you would post a picture of the headstock.

Sure.

The Fender logo is engraved on the headstock and the string tree is similar to the one on my 2012 American Standard.

Interesting logo!!
And, I couldn't tell from your prior picture that the guitar has gold hardware.
....Is that gold?
The strings look gold as well???

I hope you don't mind my changing the subject.
I checked out your collection of guitars in Photobucket, which is really impressive.
As you may recall John, we discussed this AV '52 Tele of yours several years ago, which has awesome grain markings.

Image
Since then, I bought this 2009 American Vintage '52 Telecaster with two piece body, which GC sold to me as a "new" guitar in October of 2013, at an unbelievable "close out" price, as the model had changed in 2012. The guitar looked un-played and the frets were mint.
Due to the sub $1K price, I didn't complain.

Image
But check out this unbelievable '52 style Telecaster owned by Rock 'n Roll King, Mick Jagger.
I've been looking for a good picture of this guitar for a long time.
Often times, the grain in the guitar body does not show up in pictures.
I think I first saw Jagger play this guitar on the 2002-2003, 40 Licks tour.
I don't think I mentioned this guitar to you when we last discussed your AV '52 Tele.

Nope, no gold. The hardware is standard American Standard.

The gold hue was caused by a combination of me trying and not quite succeeding at switching from my trusty old digital camera to an iPhone 6 camera and the yellow glare from an overhead light. Think I'll buy an SD card and USB reader and switch back.

I do remember that. I ordered that AVRI '52 online, sight unseen and was blown away by the swirls in the wood grain when it was first taken out of its case. Lucked out with that one. I compared it to a new American Vintage '52 after the line was updated and decided to keep her.

Wow, you got a great deal on yours. Great looking wood grain and a 2 piece body... what's not to like? Mick's looks great, too. Do you know if his Tele is an actual vintage or a reissue?

Oh, and no problem with changing the subject or the Photobucket page. I really ought to go through it and delete the pics of the guitars I no longer own. GAS was a powerful force for me a few years ago but I think I have it under control now. No, really.

I'm sure that is a Custom Shop Telecaster, specially made for Mick Jagger.
I've never seen one with grain patterns like it, although, yours may be the closest I've seen.

Yeah, I think you're right that it's a Custom Shop. It's a great looking guitar so thanks for posting a picture of it.
