I'm trying to wire a standard Tele..nothing special here, just 2 single coil pups. I'm following a wiring diagram found on Fender's website typical of most Teles. But what I ended up with is the tone control also acting as a volume control, only on the bridge pup. (it's a tone control for the neck pup) I'm bangin' my head against the wall trying to figure out where I went wrong! PLEASE HELP!!

Without actually having it in front of me I would say start buy very carefully double checking your wiring as it sounds like there might be a wire soldered in the wrong place. Make sure all solders are good and not cold solders.

If you could post a pic of your work, its easier to diagnose wiring and technical issues with pictures.

Please post a link to the wiring diagram you used. I looked at one and according to it you missed a couple of grounds.
I also noticed a bunch of cold solders.

I looked at several, and this seemed to be pretty universal.

I beleive I do have some poor solders...it was getting late after trying for so long!! But I did seem to have good contact.

What is the extra wire going to the back of the pot?

The Red cloth is from bridge pup, black plastic from ground under bridge, gray/bare from input jack.

On the pot with all the wires soldered on back. Is the lug that has the capacitor soldered to it also grounded to the back of the pot?

CA - yes, the lug is soldered to the vol pot where the cap is.
I've been over this dang thing in my head 100 times. I'm 99.9% sure it's wired right, I think I need to clean it all up and start over and hopefully it's a bad solder joint.

I can't see anything wired wrong. I do see several cold solders.

Just as a reminder. A cold solder looks flat/satinish, a good solder looks shiny/chromish.

The soldering iron should touch both parts being soldered together. The solder should touch the parts being soldered, not the soldering iron.

Yeah...let the solder flow to the heat, right! I'm a novice, as a last ditch effort late last night I was just trying to make contact. Thanks for your input.

I need to strip away some of the solder and try putting it all back together. It just seems that it would only be the bridge pup wiring, as the neck works perfect.

Take your time and be patient.

I often find myself walking away from a wiring job for a minute or two just to get my focus back. Otherwise I tend to get in a hurry.

Given the general appearance of the soldering, I'd go back over everything and see if there isn't a bridge someplace. In other words, although the wires appear to be in the right place it's possible that you flowed solder someplace it's not supposed to be and created a connection that's not supposed to be.
