Hello all, first post here and looking forward to being part of the community. I haven't played in 14 years (since I was a teen) and at that time I owned an Ibanez that I was the second owner of. Like many people though when I think great guitars one name comes to mind.....FENDER!

So now I'm ready to pickup a guitar again and I'm really having a hard time choosing between the Highway 1 Honey Blonde Tele or the American Standard Blizzard Pearl both with maple necks. The price difference isn't the issue I just think they are both beautiful instruments.

How about some opinions?

Thanks in advance

Haha that is a hard one. If you like the sound and the looks of both I'd flip a coin haha. if the answer you get you feel a little unsatisfied with, go for the other. a great tactic for making those truly important decisions hahaha.

I'd try both and decide which one *you* like.

The newer Hwy 1's have super-size frets, '70s styling, new alnico pickups and new colors. The new pups produce a more "round" sound but really shines with hi-gain "attitude." The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body's natural tone shine through also.

The American Standard is also a great axe. With hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! The redesigned plate features a classic styled Fender stamp on chrome plated brass. Brass and steel are the secrets to the Tele sound! Bridge Component Specifics American Standard saddles- The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their great tone.

You really should try both of these fine instruments and decide for yourself because everyone has a different opinion and different likes and preferences. Good luck!

Well I did it, purchased my new Tele. Ended up ordering it from Sweetwater and what a great experience that was.

I eneded up with......... the American Standard in Blizzard Pearl and for those of you who have not seen it in that color other then on the net it's amazing. Silver at times and white on others it is a true masterpiece.

Start my lessons next Thursday and I'm looking forward to it. Now I have my eye on an acoustic.

Thanks for the feedback,
Chris

I am surprised no one mentioned a 52 re-issue? It's the Tele that started it all. Good luck with tne new american standard, that's a great color. I am sure it will be a hell of a tele. By the way, the guys at Sweetwater are great aren't they?.
