I am heavily considering doing a mod on my USA Pro Tele. I want to add a middle pickup and 5 way switch. I am looking for a pickup that will blend well with the current setup it came with, A Zebra Humbucker and an onerwound single coil neck (lipstick) pickup. It has a coil split switch in the volume pot. I am considering a Cool rails Seymore Duncan and a standard 5 way switch. I would also consider a tone pot replacment. Anybody have any advice regarding this kind of Mod and the pickup?

Here is the pickup on the S.D. website. A double humbucker that fits into any single coil route.

I built a Nashville style (Tele Plus) Telecaster.
I used an Oak Grigsby 5-Way, 2 Pole Super Switch, as opposed to a standard Stratocaster switch, and used an ON-ON-ON mini toggle switch, which is optional.
All ground wires are connected to a "ground star," as shown in the picture below, as opposed to being soldered on top of the pot, which is then bound with electrical tape.

Below is a close-up of the Super Switch wiring.

Below is a wiring diagram for the "Tele Plus" wiring, which is the same as a Nashville Tele without the optional mini toggle.
The red volume/tone wire attaches to the same pot terminal as the optional blue toggle wire.
This wiring diagram provides traditional Telecaster style switch options (neck, neck+middle, neck+bridge, middle+bridge, bridge) which differ from traditional Stratocaster style switch options (neck, neck+middle, middle, middle+bridge, bridge). I can provide the Stat wiring diagram on request.

Below is a wiring diagram for the Volume and Tone pots that I used which differs from the above diagram and does not include the optional mini toggle switch.
As noted above, all ground wires are connected to a "ground star," as opposed to being soldered on top of the pot.

In another forum I belong to it was posted not to mod this tele cause the magnetic field from all the other pickups would affect the sound when played up the neck and would sound out of tune and very plucky or plinky and ruin the sound. Also they are big Tele fanatics and think you never mess with a Tele, it's taboo!

How does the mini toggle work, can you use just the middle pickup in a certain position?

Hey Jagger, can you tell me a good middle option reverse wound pickup that will blend well with my bridge pickup, (zebra hummbucker) and my lipstick neck? Lace sensor, lil 59 neck or bridge for strat, all these are noiseless, hummbucking or available in reverse wound for middle.
