Is that a mid 90's Fender MIM bridge?

I believe so, the tele is a Fender logo Squier series tele. From everything I've read, it's basically a mim tele. Seems like this particular model has very little information available regarding its lineage. If anyone has any more information regarding its history, please share. :D

Wikipedia provides the following information on Squier guitars:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier

Mexico
MN: M = Mexico, N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.
MZ: M = Mexico, Z = 2000's, the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.
For example,
• "MN8" indicates that it was made at Ensenada, Mexico in 1998-1999.
• "MZ1" indicates that it was made at Ensenada, Mexico in 2001-2002

Korea
CN/VN: C = Cor-Tek (Cort), V = Saehan(Sunghan), S was already taken by Samick so Saehan(Sunghan) used V instead (Saehan(Sunghan) made the Vester guitars), N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.
For example,
• "CN5" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1995.
• "VN5" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1995.
KC/KV: KC (Korean Cor-Tek (Cort)) and KV (Korean Saehan(Sunghan)), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year.
For example,
• "KC97" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1997.
• "KV97" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1997.
KC and KV serial number prefixes are usually used on Crafted in Korea Squiers. S/E: The S and E serial number prefix Korean Squiers are from the late 1980s/early 1990s. S = Samick, E = Young Chang, E letter serial numbers were used on Young Chang's Fenix brand guitars.[6] The first number following the serial number prefix is the year.
The first guitars made in Korea are those with serial number written in silver E10 +5 digits (note 1 extra digit) possibly as early as 1986
For example,
• "E7 +5 digits with silver serial = made by Young Chang in 1987-88.
• "S9" = made by Samick in 1989.
• "E0" = made by Sung-Eum in 1990.
• "E1" (+5 digits) with black serial = made by Sung-Eum in 1991.
There were also Korean Squier serials with no serial number prefix and 6 or 7 numbers and the first number is the year. Some late 80's and early 90's examples held a serial number with the prefix M followed by 7 numerals, although there is much that is not known about these guitars and their exact date of manufacture as Squier were undergoing a 'transitional' period at this time making precise dating difficult. They featured a high gloss maple neck with both rosewood and maple fretboard options and a slimmer 40mm body.

China and Taiwan
YN: Y = Yako (Taiwan), N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.
For example,
• "YN5" = made by Yako in 1995.
CY: C = China, Y = Yako (Taiwan), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year.
For example,
• "CY97" = made by Yako in 1997.
CY, COS, or COB serials are usually used on Crafted in China (CIC) Squiers. Some Chinese-made Gretsch guitars also have a CY serial number.
Miscellaneous Chinese serials: CD, CT, CJ, NC: C = China, the first number following the serial number prefix is the year. Probably made by Yako (Taiwan). The plant from which the COB serial number prefix models originate remains a mystery. No documentation, or comment from the manufacturer has resolved the question of which plant produced them.
Some Squiers that are sold only in the Chinese and Asian markets are made by Axl in China. These guitars usually have the serial number starting with CXS; with the 'X' standing for 'Axl'.
Squier Classic Vibe series guitars/basses serial numbers start with CG followed by the Factory/Plant Letter and the year produced (e.g., CGSxxxxxxx).

Indonesia
IC: I = Indonesia, C = (Cort), the serial number begins with 2-digits representing the year
IS: I = Indonesia, S = Samick, the serial number begins with 2-digits representing the year
I = Indonesia, C = Cor-tek (Cort), S = Squier brand, the serial number begins with 2-digits representing the year (2009-2012)
For example, "IC00XXXXX" is made in Cort in the year 2000. In 2009-2010, some Indonesian Squiers had the prefix ICS09XXXXX and ICS10XXXXX.

India
Some Squier IIs were made in India around 1989-1990. The head stock is marked "MADE IN INDIA". Made in India Squier IIs seem to follow the made in USA serial numbering scheme. For example, a 1990 made in India Squier II serial number would start with N0 plus 5 digits. The serial number is printed on a sticker located on the back of the neck, close to where the neck attaches to the body. Because the number was placed on a sticker it is fairly common for the serial number to be missing.

Mick Jagger,

Thanks for the info. Based on the seriall number, MN6, this makes it a "made in Mexico".

Screamin Armadillo,

Thanks! :D

I've looked into those Squier Series guitars over the last 8 years. I bought one in 1996. The neck of it is still my favourite grab.
They were produced from 1991-1998.
Basically what happened was Fender took over the Ensenada plant from Squier and moved Squier over to Asia.
Shipping of hardware proved to be more expensive than it was worth.
At that time Ensenada didn't carve bodies (1999) or necks (2006). So bodies and necks were cut in Corona and sent down the road to Ensenada to be finished.
Fender Mexico had all these bridges, tuners, pickups left over from the factories Squier days. So they used them on new guitars called Squier Series.
I found an old advert for them a couple of years ago at a gig. Backstage there were a load of old music and guitar mags. The UK add read "you can now own a genuine Fender for under £200".
I bought mine from Musical Exchanges in Birmingham. The year before it had extended it's guitar department to the size of half a football pitch.
As their success grew they produced them in Japan for a while (1997-8 I think). I've never seen a Korean Squier Series.
Some people try and make a profit on them. Some lady on a Facebook sale group was trying to sell her Strat for £400 a couple of months back. I think she still has it.

As for the Telecaster, what got me into it. Springsteen and Strummer.
My first was a 1981 Tokai Breezysound. That I got when I was 14. Worked all summer for that guitar.
Currently I own one Tele. A Baja. It's all I need. Joe Barden bridge and my mate made me some new pickups for it. The bridge uses a neodymium magnet. Has output equal to an EMG89 and still retains that bite. If anything it's a little too treble'y.

That baja tele gets rave reviews, Its next on my list of teles. As for the neck on the squier series, ive had two buddies mention how great it felt and that they could play it all day long. It really is a great neck, and a proper setup just enhances it.

Thanks for the addition of the history as well. :D

The Baja is, or was (I'm really not up to date on the catalogue) an incredible guitar. Honestly I've blindfold tested mine on several people who've bought stuff round to the house to get fixed. Give em my custom shop strat, then give em the Tele and ask em which cost more.
If your Tele neck is anything like my Squier Series Strat neck. Expect a completely different beast with the early Baja (I don't know about the later ones). It's gargantuan in girth. The 4 way switch and phase switch I find not as usable as they appear to be on paper. I tend to stick pretty firmly to the bridge pickup. The neck pickup sounds really deep and still gentle and is nice. No doubt others have use for those things.

Living in a large city has its benefits when it comes to trying stuff out. I've had the opportunity to visit several geetar centers and try them out. The necks are fat but comfortable. You're absolutely correct when you say it's nothing like the squire series neck. But I've never really had an issue adapting to the varitable cornucopia of neck shapes and thicknesses. If i had to compare, playing the baja is similar to playing my less paul, a few minutes of adjusting and it's all good. :D

In 2004 I wanted the fender sound to offset my les Paul studio. Everyone needs a tele in my opinion. I was at the local store and he has two 2002 s one black and one candy apple red? with almost metallic looking paint. Both beautiful and heavy. Went with the red / maple. Put many hours of play on it.

When you bring them to practice they are so reliable and versatile. They stay in tune easy to play easy to bend. But later you listen to the tone on the recording and they "cut through" absolutely. They no load tone gives extra bite if needed

I won't say which is my favorite. I achieve the tone by copying what the originals used. Be a good band member. If someone is using humbuckers go for single coils to compliment.

Got my tele because everyone needs one! Wish I had a rosewood one too!
