I've yet to buy one, but it's next on the list. However, I can surly say that my reason for wanting one is because it has such a distinct tone. One such that I've been unable to replicate with any of my strats. Gotta love that twang...... :D

I was a dyed-in-the-wool StratMan for several years. I owned and played other guitars, but the ones that "stayed" were either Stratocasters or Strat-style-body instruments (such as my G&L F100).

I was playing in a 4-piece band with another guitarist, bass and drums, and on a whim I asked if I could play the bassist's Tele Custom from the early 70's for a particular song. He agreed, and I was in love with how the bridge pickup cut through the messy mix of that very loud band. I ended up using it for several songs, and decided I liked the feel of the heavier, less contoured body against my ribs much more than my slick, sweet and sassy Strat. He would not part with his guitar, so I set out to find something similar.

I couldn't afford an original Telecaster Custom, and there were no reissues of that model at that time, so I found a Vintage White (read: semi-see-through blonde) MIM Tele Special that fit my budget as well as fit my body (that nice little blunt edge pressing against my gut and pelvis works so well!)

I originally had visions of Keef's "Micawber" Tele when I bought this one, but I eventually found the original coil-tapped Special Design Humbucking Pickup in the neck position wasn't doing anything I liked. I pulled it out, got a blank Esquire pickguard, and rewired it to have three-way "Esquire" switching...since I was only using the bridge pickup anyway!

A sticker of my band's logo graced the blank space for several years, but eventually I wanted some more punch and girth to the tone, so I installed a Mighty Mite P-90 (in the leftover neck route) and a four-way switch---and voila! Big Texas Tone, that could Rip (bridge pickup) or Roar (neck). Installing a Fender No-Load Tone Pot completed the one element I missed from the Esquire switching--the "straight-from-the-pickup-into-the-cable" setting.

I've done a few more cosmetic things to her, but ultimately, this became my go-to, perfect guitar for all occasions--live, in-studio or just jammin'.

Every time I think of Tele I think of my favorite
Waylon Jennings's dressed in leather.
Gonna buy a Tele one day for sure.

I bought a Telecaster because "it was there".

And because it's the coolest electric guitar on Earth......

Now if Fender would just hook-up with Red Bull and Go Pro......
Everyone would be playing Telecasters instead of Les Pauls!!

"Stunning!! The most beautiful Tele made - JMHO of course."

My opinion as well. If they'd had Fiesta Red w/Rosewood, that'd have been my 1st choice tho'.

Got my 1st Esquire in '70. Always joked about it having only 1 pup.
Eventually, in 1975 I gave it to a friend who needed a guitar (I was MUCH younger then). I still think about it, as he made some major changes to it. Chest La Vie!

That's the fact, Jack!
Fiesta Red with a rosewood fretboard is one of the prettiest combinations out there, as evident on my Strat...

I'd love to see that on a Telecaster. 8)
