Well (you were the one who demanded authenticity), if you are going to produce a mirror image of a right handed Strat flipped to play left handed (then mirrored for r/h use) then the logo should be mirrored as well. I assume they didn't go all out and reverse the pots and knobs as well although, by the same argument they should.

Don't forget links screws and a reversed truss rod.

And where would you find reverse wound strings? The optimal angle of attack (perpendicular to the spiral of the winding) will be slightly different for a left-handed versus a right handed player, unless the strings are reverse wound.

So someone wanting to play an "authentical" Hendrix strat would either have to play sinister like Hendrix, or reverse everything to play it right-handed.
And even then, it wouldn't be authentic, because of the right-hand rule for magnetic field generation, sending the electrons in the wrong direction.

Hee Hee. That's too funny. As a lefty, I can appreciate all these problems.  :?

No, if you flip the guitar at any angle the logo would still read normally and not inverted...unless you reflect yourself with a mirror which is not what we're referring to here.

Well, yes you are, if you are making a mirror of an inverted r/hand guitar. ...and the screws should be lefthand thread, and the ash grown in in the Southern hemisphere. ...

I think this thread has taken an absurd turn with talk of left handed screws and Southern Hemisphere ash. The initial intent was if you want a guitar that looks and sounds (as much as possible) like Jimi's then do what Jimi did and take a right handed Strat (or a left handed Strat) flip it and use it like he did. Take a good look at Jimi's guitar and then take a good look at Fenders latest offering called "The Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster". Does it look the same to you? That's all I meant.

Exactly. Fender isn't making a guitar which is a r/handed version of Jimi's guitar. If you want that, go and buy a l/handed guitar and string it upside down.

If you want an 100% accurate mirror then everything has to be mirrored.

Fender are just providing an instrument which has the potential to sound like Jimi's guitar for r/handed players. No more, no less.

I have one of these I bought about 8 years ago. musiciansfriend had them for $299.99 USD. Is it the same guitar? Would of liked to seen it with a left hand bridge. Making it a right handed body is cheaper and 90 plus percent of the people in the world are right hand. That's where the money is. Sorry left hand players. PEACE!

I don't think there are any cost implications as it is pretty much down to which file you load into the CNC.

The main reason it has a r/hand body is A L/H BODY WOULD BE A PAIN IN THE BUM TO PLAY IF ALL YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IS THE SOUND.

If you want the whole upside down thing just buy the wrong handed guitar. Simples.
