I would like to have Fender build me my own Strat using their new "Design Your Own" program ... They have everything I'm looking for with only 1 exception .... I would like the guitar painted in Fender's own #41 Vintage White, which is not on the list of stock options. Does anyone know if they will do this? Can't see why they wouldn't. It is already an available stock color.

Any info will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I've never ordered from the "American Design Experience", but Fender usually helps if you contact them directly.
There's toll free contact number for US customers ("Fender Specialist": 1-844-202-0924), there's a chat on Fender product pages during US business hours, and you can also email consumerrelations@fender.com

I agree that you will probably only get an answer from Fender directly. I ordered a Strat from their American Design Experience, and I think you'll love it if they have everything you want. They did deny a special request of mine for locking strap buttons, but you might have better luck (I didn't push very hard). If they won't accommodate your color request online or by phone, you might have more options if you actually visit their factory (if you ever have cause to head to Southern California). Good luck, and let us know how it all turns out!

Cheers,
Dave.

I suspect the answer will be no. The design your own program is to let you assemble a guitar from standard pre-made parts.

I would think that in a program like "Design your own", you would have to made a no special requests rule, otherwise you would have a customer relations nightmare.

That would be my assumption. And the fact that they couldn't accommodate locking strap button's would further support this.

I would think they have assemblers in front of a wall of bins which each have the different option and they pick according to the build list.

I had thought it wouldn't take much to have a further bin for special order parts but if you had twenty guitars with twenty special orders that would be twenty items to sort through. There is no guarantee that those twenty special parts aren't different but similar. The potential for putting the wrong part on the wrong guitar (or the extra control to ensure this doesn't happen) probably isn't worth the extra price necessary to cover the cost of the complications.

Even car manufacturers, who have been building cars to customer specification for years, only provide a limited set of options for each model. You don't get the choice of a heated steering wheel on your shopping spec version although the top of the range car has one.

I mostly understand what you are saying ... but I was only requesting a paint color! Not a secret paint color or some custom finish ... Fender's own #41 Vintage White. A stock color that they use every day. They offer 9 other colors but would not consider any color other than those 9 .... Now we both know that they are painting bodies in Vintage White regularly. This was nothing special at all. I have had Carvin Guitars build me 2 (from scratch) guitars this past year. They take the same 3 months to complete that Fender takes ... although they offer me over 12,000 options, including the custom paint job of my choice. Fender offers 11 options. I spoke with 3 different people at Fender and none of them were the slightest bit interested in working with me.
