To all you NEWBIES out there. Posting a question like "WHAT PICK-UPS SHOULD I GET???" or "WHAT PICK-UPS SOUND BEST???" OR ( and this one took the prize for DIPS**T of the week "GN'R". I'll answer as best I can:

1) Choose which ever pick-up YOU can afford. IF you don't like it try a different one. PERIOD. Any posting like that will get you more different answers than you care to deal with.

2) The GN'R posting HAD NO BUSINESS ON THIS WEBSITE!!!!! I have NEVER seen slash play ANYTHING but LP's. IF you're that big of a GN'R fan, go register on the GIBSON (god forgive me for suggesting it) website or wait thil the album that's been in the can for 7+ years comes out ( Release date the 12th of Never; reserve your copy now!!!!!!).

So now....on with the forum.

"Thenk ya. Thank ya fery much".

Wow...angry and bitter.

Let people say what they want.

If you don't want to read a post about Slash, don't read it. There is no need to call people names or insult people.

Also if people want to discuss p/u's, and you don't, then mind your own business and let them discuss it.

I am curious as to enlightening revelations that you must make on a regular basis if you think that what others are talking about is that stupid or somehow an insult to your clearly advanced guitar related philosophy.

I kinda like free speech!

Cheers

I'm not even a Slash fan but I know he plays/played BC Rich Mockingbirds. I agree with you to a degree, however, and I wish people would learn how to search and use their own ears (mp3 samples, youtube clips, going to their local shop) rather than repeating teh same threads again and again but hey its the internet, don't let it bother you too much :)

Oh the irony. Sometimes I think you just post the first thing that comes into your head.

Well HIGHWAYONE PLAYER, just trying to make a point has it's ups & downs. I enjoy reading what you post all the time. 2 Strats up 2 ya.

The point was this & only this, it's the Fender forum. If someone has a question regarding what to do as far as pickups, set-up, problems with thier axe, scroll thru the past postings. No one is as unique as the think they are & chances are, someone has had the same problem before. There isn't to much you can do to a Strat that hasn't been done by someone before. The only thing I can think of that would totally render a Strat unplayable is to blow it completely up with dynamite or C-4. Hell I'm sure after Hendrix doused his Strat with lighter fluid at Monterey, a roadie put it out then rebuilt it 4 hisself.

...as perhaps one of the "offending" posters, I can assure you I have plenty of knowledge and experience guitar-wise, but I have never been one to change pickups and appreciate hearing from others who have before I sink lots of $$$ into a mod (FWIW I test-drove my recent purchase and am quite happy with the stock pups). Also, not by any stretch a GnR fan, but I have read that Slash uses Strats aplenty in the studio and I have seen pics of him using one onstage--also he did once say there was nothing sweeter than the sound of a distorted Strat (no argument here).

Even though this thread is of very questionable merit in my book from the outset, I do have to point out Slash's relationship with Guild guitars. Yes, it's still a bit of a stretch, but Guild is owned by Fender after all. Remember the Slash Crossroads double-neck signature model?

I actually own a second single-neck variant of that model -- it was sent to Slash for evaluation but never put into production. Very cool axe!
