Have you ever tried a Classic Player '60 or a Jimmie Vaughan Strat?
If I'm not wrong those should carry a rather fatter neck???

I had a Classic Players 60's Lacquer Strat and also had a Tex-Mex Strat (pre-JV strat). I've also played a JV strat and wasn't impressed.

Try the Classic Series '70s Strat....pretty substantial U-shape.

I've heard that, but what is substantial? Any approx. measurements?

I tried one a couple of years ago and it definitely had some heft, but I don't have any dimensions.

I love the tone and looks of a Fender Stratocaster. I love the functions and verstility.

What I hate? The shallow necks. They feel thin and flat. Yes, I wrap my thumb over the top. But I cannot work with the neck shape. Even the V-necks produce too much fatigue for my hands...

Its really not fun to play one even though all my hero's love them so much.

I like the massive feel of a 52 Telecaster.

Wish that feel of a 52 Tele was found in a Stratocaster.

Anyone else find the Stratocaster to be just uncomfortable to play after a while?

I've gone through more Stratocasters than any other guitar, about 18 of them in the past 7 years.

Warmoth makes the only neck I can deal with on a Stratocaster. Just wish Fender would allow them to slap the Fender waterslides on them so I wouldn't have to pirate them from questionable sources...

Personally the reason I like Fender Strats, specifically my MIM's, is because for me, they ARE comfortable...particularly the mid-90's Strats (of which I own 3). Granted for a big guy (I'm 6'2", 250 lbs) I actually have rather small hands, but even my '87 MIJ with it's '62 profile neck is a bit cumbersome for me and personally I've NEVER been fond of the proverbial "baseball bats". Obviously, as with most things guitar related, it's more a matter of personal choice, however one of the lovely things about Strats (as others have pointed out) is that there is indeed so many choices.

That said, at the risk of being horribly blunt, I do have to question your comment about the Warmoth neck regarding a waterslide decal. First and foremost...and this is strictly my own personal opinion of course...if we're talking about a comfort issue and you LIKE the Warmoth neck, then it really shouldn't matter what the headstock says. The label can say "Joe's Yack Milk", but if the neck is comfortable for YOU to play, then dude - who cares? Further, if you really just can't play a guitar without a headstock logo...if you really believe the logo somehow makes your guitar sound better or that it makes you look cool (as apposed to your playing skills), unless your intent is to sell the guitar as something it's not, then wow...just put a decal on! If your concern is "questionable sources", then simply print your own instead.

Please understand that I'm not trying to be rude here, however to me that comment really sounds as though you're basing your neck choice on your perception or preconception of an otherwise silly logo...a sticker. Something utterly aesthetic that has NO EFFECT on how your instrument sounds or plays. As a digital artist, I do in fact have great consideration for aesthetics and in one case I have in fact created my own decal for a partscaster project of mine. I wasn't trying to re-create a 70's Strat, but I wanted that general aesthetic...I even went so far as to have my birth date engraved on the neck plate as the "serial number". As this instrument was intended primarily as an art project, it has served it purpose...the fact that it's also a very playable instrument is just a bonus. That said, if you are indeed considering the instrument as "a guitar", then one should weigh the aesthetic against the pragmatic...if I had a guitar that I loved to play and that otherwise sounded superb, then having Joe's Yack Milk on the headstock (as apposed to Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Jackson, et al) would truly be at the bottom of my priority list.

My advice would simply be to buy or build the instrument that feels good in YOUR hands and sounds good to YOUR ears and don't worry about what it says on the headstock. Either it's a decent instrument or it's not. Either you can play it or you can't...don't worry about a silly sticker.

Just something to think about.

Yes my friend, I have the same problem with the Modern C that plagues most Strats.
And like you, my fav neck is on one of my Tele's, a Deluxe, which is quoted as a 'C' shape, not 'modern C'. More like their 'Early 60's Oval C'.

Here are pics of 5 necks Fender has done, and can do more shapes from their order list.
http://intl.fender.com/en-AU/custom-shop/how-to-order/

There are 2 Strats with the neck and other points that go close to what I like:

The first choice the 2015 Postmodern NOS Stratocaster. Which is ash, staggered tuners and Mid '60s Oval “C” neck, 9.5" to 12" Compound Radius.

Or the Classic Player 60's Strat, with 'C' neck and 12" radius, 2 point bridge, dig the Sonic Blue.

One of these will be my new Strat, not sure which yet. Leaning towards the Classic Player 60's because of the fatter frets and 2 point trem. I will change the tuners for staggered locking.

Yeah that's it, I think right now I've talked myself into the CP Sonic Blue woohoo!

Wait, I just saw this...

Find yourself a '76 Strat. Many have really big necks. You can also get a big neck on the Jeff Beck Strat.

I have the V neck which is quite comfortable for my short fingers but I have difficulty with a 5 fret stretch. Would a short scale neck work better?
