"Top Routed" means the guitar has a pickguard, and the pickups are mounted in the pickguard. "Rear Routed" means individual holes are cut for each pickup - like on a Gibson Les Paul.

An SSS pickguard will fit on bodies routed SSS, HSS, HSH, or "swimming pool" (large rectangular rout). You won't have any issues.

I'll start on that "know nothing about strat bodies ", so going on 101-level here...

If you intend to keep everything but the body from that AmStd, you will need a body with the modern (= two post) tremolo routing. There may also be some fitting issues on pickguard screw placements etc.

The best bet would be an original Fender replacement body but the Surf Green is only available with a vintage trem routing. And all modern bridge bodies seem to come with a gloss finish...

Repainting your current body is one option.

Awesome @jmattis, from my understanding I need to buy a body with modern bridge instead of vintage one, thanks again

Why not just refinish the body of your strat

Very fine wet'n'dry paper used wet would certainly Matt down your existing body.

I would have thought top routed means the guitar was routed from the top and rear routed means routed from the back. Surely any guitar where the PUPs are mounted from the front (Les Paul's included) are top routed?

I agree that the control cavities on a Les Paul are routed from the rear but that doesn't effect the PUPs.

Strats generally have the PUPs fixed to the pick guard and the pick guard fixed to the body. But then Les Paul's have the PUPs mounted to the bezel frame suround and the frame mounted to the body.

There are instances where PUPs are inserted into cavities from the front and screwed to the bottom of the cavity on spacer springs - never looks good IMHO. And there are some guitars where the PUPs are mounted from the rear ( which can look extremely impressive). I would have thought it was this which would qualify "rear routed". I believe that is the distinction in the Warmoth catalogue?

Nice guessworking try John (Sims)...in this case you can stop...John (C.) is using the standard nomenclature in his description...

It exactly means where the Control Cavities are located...in the Top or Bottom...the Pups are pretty much always on top. hehe

Another clue is...well...John C. doesn't seem to know how to speak in BS.

Different Strokes for different Pogues...
I'd say that's a piece of advice for an experienced pair of hands. For a beginner, it's quite difficult to get the surface evenly matt on all flat surfaces, round corners, cavity edges etc; and still not sand through the lacquer anywhere.
On the other hand, of course, that test would be cheap and (relatively - the body needs to be stripped bare) quick, and the refinish option would lurk behind if the result is not satisfactory.
