i just purchased a 2008 american standard and although everything on the guitar is perfect ie action, intonation. the bridge is lifted from the body about a quarter of an inch, the guitar stays in tune when using tremelo and playing so should i leave it the way it is or bring the bridge parralel with the body, is there iany harm in leaving it like it is?

If you set it flush with the body you won't be able to do any lifts with your trem. just dives. It will be a sort of a hardtail. I perfer mine flush because I rarely use lifts

Thanks man, yea i wasn't sure about it ,i didnt know if i needed to adjust the truss rod or something because ive only ever used hardtail guitars, so the bridge being off the body concerned me at first, but if that is the standard set up im cool with it, though iiagree im sure ill make it flush wih the body soon

Why?

Might indeed turn out to be the right thing for you, but what would your reason be?

Cheers - C

I believe the spec is one-eighth of an inch. See page 12 of
