Hello Everyone - I see many posts on the S1 switching diagrams, but I have not seen one with three wire pick ups (SSS). In particular, I have a set up Bill Lawrence Keystones. Relative noob on wiring/soldiering, but I think I grasp general wiring schematics and tutorials enough to give it a go. Anyone have a schematic for a Deluxe wiring S1 for the wire pick ups? The S1 and switch are authentic Fender. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best...

Here you go, S-1 with 3 wire single coil pickups.

Pushing the S1 down within the 3rd position from the 5-way selector enable all three pickups together.

This setting creates a thick, creamy humbucker sound.

These are not single-coil pickups -- they are SCN's.

Thanks for the insights thus far. Question... Are the three wires coming out of an SCN treated the same as the 3 wires out of a keystone? Forgive the probably stupid question... Starting to wonder if I am in over my head, but then I realize I am simply soldering wires against a map. I confess I am do not have any type of grasp on electrical wiring of any type, but am willing to learn.

Are they white , black and blue?
I have never wired them but from what I can glean the blue performs a similar action to the green in the scns in that it attaches to a ground plane.
So wire the blue wires as you would with the green wires on the scns.
Wire the black wires as the scns then the whites as the hot leads similar to the scns.

I just love that 3rd position S1 down that has been mentioned :D

I looked at the Bill Lawrence website, the blue wire is a shield ground, just like the Green wire on the SCN's. The diagram link above will work.

With the S-1 switch you will be dealing with a lot of wires, if you are new to this you might want to find someone with experience to help you.

I have a question, he is charging $84.00 for Keystone Strat pickups, is that for a set or one pickup? $84.00 for a set seems hard to believe.

Thanks for the insights... Thinking about going to tech/luthier route, but still weighing.

As for the Keystones, that price should be for all 3. I picked up some Keystones for my Tele after the strong reviews and the price was hard to beat. I picked up another set for my strat several years ago and they sat. But the price I got them for a few years back is around the $84 you quoted. Do a search for Keystone reviews online. Not saying they are for everyone, but I haven't come across too many bad reviews. (I am in no way affiliated with Bill Lawrence pickups, BTW).

Welcome to the Forum hubajube25...You sound ready to take the plunge...and we're the cheering section (Insert Smiley Face)

...you really should practice soldering 2 wires...to each other & to a Pot...and desolder them...a few times...

...you'll learn a lot quickly...and do a much better job on the REAL project.

...do you have the right equipment...check in if you need advice...we're GOOD at that! (ISF)

You might check out our Build Thread maybe contribute...even for laughs....(whoops...set the shed on fire)

I'm looking forward to YOUR reviews...on the project...and the sound of your new Pups.

How did they sound in your Tele? Like a Fender...But...

more or less treble/mids &/or bass...beasty or yeasty...whatever. (ISF)

OK, thanks' I will keep them in mind, at that price it is worth trying.

Well, I went ahead and did over the last week or so. First of all, I was ecstatic that the first time I plugged it in, I got tone coming off the guitar.

I will have to post some pictures later, but I am pleased with my wiring into the switch. Defintely not professional grade, but it went pretty smooth and the solder applied where I wanted it. Grounding to the pots was another issue. I was probably a bit too cautious of burning up a pot and didn't apply enough heat. The joints had the shiny look, but it appear that it was a 'cold joint.' In fact 1 or 2 broke free after some tugging for strength.

The wiring was pretty tight through the body routing, but I got it done after some manipulation. Still need to get some zip ties as I was fresh out.

As far as the sound, I love the pups. They are definitely strat all the way. Clear, warm tones. Loud, and I haven't adjusted the height as of yet. Not biting at all. Love the S1 tones including the middle position down for the humbucker sound. All in all, probably 3 - 4 hours of work which included 2 set up/take downs, and pouring over the Fender diagrams. The black and white wiring diagrams are a bit hard to decipher with so many wires, but there are enough S1 loaded pickguards on line to get a visual on. LOL. Thanks for the help everyone!

Glad it went so well...good job on the reviews too

Pup height is important...set to taste...and remember...louder doesn't always = better

As the Aussies say...GOOD ON YA

All right!! I'm glad it turned out well. :) That was a lot of wires.

I built a pickguard a few weeks ago with some CS-69's. I put in a neck pickup "on" switch and a switch to flip the phase of the middle pickup. I like the sounds I get with the middle pickup out-of-phase. The feeling you get when you plug the guitar in for the first time and everything works is great.
