I have no neck relief in my '76 strat with the truss rod totally loose. Not sure how to get it back. I put on .013 -.056 acoustic gauge strings on the guitar and will leave it there for a month, in the hopes of bending the neck so when I go back to .009s I have the relief. Any other suggestions?

I've seen a luthier place a block under the headstock and heel, so the guitar is horizontal and supported, then place an iron on the middle of the fretboard with a towel under it for protection. I wouldn't advise doing this without knowing the heat setting and how long to leave it, but heat is an option you could look into.

It's job for a luthier . You do your best with truss rod

Look on youtube under "Dave's world of fun stuff"...He straightens one out on there
I very nearly bought a '74 Strat a few years back but the neck on that was bowed too, apparently the mid 70's Strats were prone to back bow for some reason
