Hey guys, I hope someone will be able to help me out on this. Is there a way to change the neck tone pot ,in a Hss strat with s1 switching, for a pushpull tone pot that will add the neck pup to position 5? Trying to get neck+bridge option.

Sure, the easy way would be to make it a "neck on" switch. Your neck pickup will be on in all positions, so in position 4 you will have all 3 pickups on. The problem with a push/pull pot is it will be longer than a standard pot and you may have to remove some of the wood under it.

Find the wire from the neck PU on the 5 position switch and add a wire that runs from the 5 position switch, to one of the terminals on the switch on the push/pull pot. Then attach a wire to the other terminal on the push/pull and run it to the Vol pot.

This is not as easy with the S-1, there are a lot of wires. Also, there are a lot of ground wires soldered to the bottom of the neck tone pot that will have to be re-soldered to the push pull pot.

Here is a link to a standard HSS/S-1 wiring diagram.

I would not attempt this yourself if you do not have very good soldering skills.

A push /pull pot will fit an MIA or a MIM stratocaster in the depth of the control cavity. It may not if the Strat is a Squier Strat as those have thinner bodies. MIA and MIM have 1"3/4 thick bodies but a Squier is 1"5/8th thick and the control cavity is shallower.

Yeah Andy does not frequent this forum much these days but I was always amazed at how quickly he could come up with super switch and S1 solutions.
Your circuit may get complicated since as you will note the return path for the neck pickup goes thru the S1 unlike the standard method where the return is just tied to the pot case. :D

Well Omar59s suggestion should work but possibly not as expected with the s1 down.
On standard wiring this is one trad method to get the neck and bridge.
What I would do is just get a cheap switch can be anything pull the guard attach as suggested temporarily (just have two wires hanging out of the pickguard taking care not to damage anythin) see what results you get and if pleasing then go for the full push pull tone pot.
I suggest you take carefull photos before doing anything so if you loose a wire you know where it goes back to. :D
