There's an interesting Clapton build for sale on ebay

I'm not promoting the sale...but the build is unique...started with a Clapton Blackie...

...more build pics...better description...on the listing...

There's two sets of single coil pups in that case.

Or......how to half the value of a guitar in one easy lesson.

Eric Clapton Strat? No, now a Partscaster with Noiseless PUPs and a midboost circuit.

Perhaps he will make enough selling the neck to off set the amount he devalued the original guitar.

Apparently his next project is to make a Ford Transit Van from a Ferrari.

What a plonker.

...yeah...but do you like it John?

I had a similar reaction at first glance...reading the desc. & looking at the pics...he did an outstanding job...IMO...YMMV

...that would be a project worthy of the Overdrive Custom Gilmour Pickguard...

...Acrylic...1ply .120" thick with rounded & polished edges...very fancy...

He always wanted an all black Strat. Which is why he made this, only played it sufficiently to get it set up and is now selling it.

I hate the look of the neck and imagine it feels pretty strange to play as well.

I'm surprised he didn't, embellish it with skull shaped tuners while he was about it.

Obviously everyone to their own, but why would you start with an EC Signature and then replace everything bar the body and electrics? Why not start from scratch or use something more mundane as a foundation.

I wouldn't have believed it had I not read the whole thing.

Well I actually like it ..... should have gone with no fret markers IMHO.
Certainly blacker than fenders own none more black.
I do agree the vendor should have just grabbed any old body and started from scratch though.
Each to their own :D

+1000

This project should have been executed with purpose-acquired aftermarket parts, not by trashing (yes, trashing!) a premium Fender instrument. This rates right up there with recreating an EVH guitar by bastardizing a Custom Shop '54 re-issue Strat.

ahhh interesting... I'll need it: convertible, in metallic sunburst, chrome roll bars, open tuned dual cascade exhaust, license plate 'BEACHIN' and the words 'Friction Proof Entry!' on outside of passenger door.
Thanks in advance dude

I like the body and what he's done with the plastic...

I do not like the black neck... Finishes like that make me feel someone is trying to hide something.

Smoked Chrome hardware looks cool, but that guitar needs some contrast. Gold Hardware perhap? Its just too black...

Maybe call it the Sauron Signature Strat?

NOT a fan of the "Murdered Out" look...not on cars or guitars. IMHO, he just ruined a perfectly good guitar. Funny how a guitar he always wanted is being sold right after completion...cool story bro!

I suppose forums do bring the "best" in all of us.

The only thing you got right was that the upgrade was cost-effective.

I can understand that it is not to your liking, I really do, but I'd like to think you could have done that without being insulting.

If John insulted anything, it was the concept of turning a two thousand-dollar guitar into a five hundred-dollar pile of turds.

If you're wrapped too tight for this forum, there's always Harmony Central.

That is subjective too.
If you feel that putting a premium neck on a Squier is a wiser choice, we can agree to disagree.
