A few questions down someone was asking about running the same guitar through two different amps.

I've always wondered what the best method for letting two amp heads share the same speaker cab was .

The best method is to have a qualified amp tech on speed-dial......

Because you'll need him every time you fire that sonofabitch up.

Don't be a chowderhead.

Buy a second speaker cab.

I wonder what the impedence of an amp output socket is?

You could do it if a 2x12 or 4x12 with two sets of speakers wired independently to two separate input sockets.

You will only get the goodness of half the number of speakers in each case. But you will also only have one cab to lug around.

Your cab may already have two sockets but one will be a parallel out. Don't use that without modification as noted above.

I know of a bass player that runs a clean head through the top half of a 4x10 cab and another head with some drive through the bottom half. Is wired with separate inputs so is basically just 2 2x10s sharing a cab instead of stacked up so not sure if that is what you are looking for.

If you are thinking of running 2 heads into one cab input... See Arjay's post.

Or, maybe he's asking how to run two single channel amps with a A/B switch into a single CAB? The question is a little ambiguous.

Whatever happens don't run tube amps without a load connected - you'll burn the output transformers out!
Listen to Arjay and run 2 cabs :)

That's pretty cool, but you have to have a serious case of OCD to carry two amp heads to a gig.

Eric Johnson doesn't use two amp heads.
Four, maybe five, but only two? Nah! :D

I seriously doubt that Eric Johnson carries any amp heads into his gigs.
