The guy i used to take my gear to ( a well renowned luthier) said that the design of it was crap and made it prone to these problems and loosening up over time with all the plugging in and unplugging. And when you look at it it seems flimsy compared to the Tele jack and Les Paul's and the like.

You started a flame war with this and then kept escalating when Retroverbial called you on your responses. You do (did) this a lot, not just here so a holier than thou attitude and feigning innocence doesn't cut it...

When we post certain comments and hearsay on a forum of what we sometimes believe to be correct we get called on it. One of the reasons many Fender Forumites have left is because of this type of nonsense.
Call it what you will or whatever you wish to believe, but when you fire back in kind, or escalate then you become part of the nonsense..
Backing up a statement with facts when questioned about veracity should be the norm, it just makes for a better Forum, not a Facebook farce... :?:

We had Arjay saying in his response to me that in all his years of playing the guitar he'd never heard of a strat jack working loose and giving these problems! Then later he said they all loosen and it's routine maintenance to tighten them up.

He also referred to a good luthier as Pee Wee Herman whoever that is. Then followed a host of insults directed at myself.

Go back and check it out.

Right ho, Gorgon, you have been at pains to state that it isn't your opinion that the Strat jack socket sucks, but that of your luthier to the rich and famous.

What do you think?

Well i've had it loosen up in a couple of guitars but i think overall it's pretty good. I have played mainly strat guitars before but then got a telecaster which i've played for years with no problem so far.

This is what happens with guitars, being made of wood they shrink and expand, except the metal parts don't have the same expansion contraction rate. Either way, everything on a guitar loosens up over time, especially the jack sockets if initially they were not fitted correctly and /or secured correctly. I rarely have had the actual nut, washers loosen up in any Strat. I have owned once they are tightened down correctly.
Many of us also have no problems so then it is not the overall design that is the problem but perhaps the person who owns the instruments and either rarely or incorrectly services those guitars...

That is really it in a nutshell.. You said yourself you have had this problem repeatedly in all your Strats, so that says you are not doing something correct in addressing the issue. There's a flat washer, a secondary serrated washer that when compressed by the nut  locks the jack plug securely..
You cannot tighten this Strat style Jack without removing it from the guitar. The 2 screws that hold the plate are only designed to hold the assembly flush with the top...

For most of us it is rather simple and a quick fix... There is no need for the Drama that you seem to always want to bring to the fore..
Have fun, play your guitar, fix what is loose ( if possible ) and move on....

Over and Out !!

No i did not say that. I said i've had the problem with the odd one or two strats down the years. I've had tons of strats down the years. Some i held on to some i only kept a short time and traded them in.

No drama, just reality. Arjay baited someone and they responded by telling him not to troll. Simple as that. Then he went into insult mode.

Case closed.
