I understood that Danagos, sure I would be able to strip and repaint but it is such a lot of work that when you consider the cost, buying a visually appealing body for clear is much more feasible. Then when you consider that stripping modern paint is a hazardous and toxic pursuit ... Not very appealing ..
Also much better for one's peace of mind..

HUNH :?: :?: 53mag I agree with your advice completely...my posts have been (mainly) aimed at our OP

...btw...your Stratopartster IV & TelePartster I Build should be in the Hall of Fame...but ya gotta finish it!

It is pretty much done other than the lacquer curing and all. I just applied two more coats this morning.
As for the Stratopartster segment of the thread, I am going to start an entire new thread as it should have been two separate threads from the beginning...

BTW.... since we are on the topic of refinishing, the lacquer I'm using is terrific, but I have had to switch from a really good paper mask to my charcoal canistered OSHA approved masks... It is that toxic...

Word!

I can handle airbrushing a plastic model airplane but refinishing a guitar is beyond my skill set.

Having painted a guitar, I will say that it might be better to buy a used HWY1 body and buff it up with some buffing compound.

+1 or use Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax :D

The Hwy1 bodies are Fenders least expensive nitro finished model...they're MIM and a good choice for modding but they use the narrow bridge.

I bought a very used 3toneSB Hwy1 body and proceeded to relic it way further in my Glossy Relic build.

Note the satin finish under the pickguard area...the previous owner sprayed some thin gloss over the body with the PG on.
