Just pulled the trigger on a Classic Players 50's Stratocaster with a Fender Tweed HSC.

I thought long and hard about a Fender American Deluxe V Neck or American Standard V Neck....

But for the price and the quality, I don't think I made the wrong decision.

I had a Classic Players 60's Strat and a American Deluxe 60th Anniversery Strat. Both were excellent guitars. I hoping the fretboard on the Classic Players 50's has nice rolled edges, players well, and sounds like a hot rodded vintage Strat...

Thoughts?

I would of bought one of those since they are Nitro finished and come with a HSC, but Sweetwater doesn't have them in stock...

What did you order, and from where? Mine (brand new from store, 2006) is poly finish and came with a gig bag, not a case. The current ones listed on this Fender site are poly and gig bag. The ones listed on Sweetwater are also poly with gig bag. :?:

I think the 60th Anni Classic Player is meant to come with a tweed case so maybe thats what the Op is getting?
I'd like to try one! :D

Yep, sorry, there was a 2014 Limited Edition 50th Anniversery Classic Players Strat with gold hardware, annodized Gold pickguard, special hardshell case and completely finished in Nitro.

Then there is a gold body Classic Players Strat that is still sold today. I mixed up the two....

I'm waiting for it still...

Really curious if anyone has any negative points to this guitar?

I backed out of this one... Once I added up a case and few other items, it was right up there with an American Standard... bummer....

With a soft V-neck, 57/62 pups, and the vintage look, that's still not a bad deal. The quality, fit, feel, finish, playability and sound are up there with the Am Std. Heck, there were moments when I actually felt that the CP was better than the Am Std.

It's been a while since I've played an American Standard so I couldn't rightly make that comparative observation. But I've seen many CP models and they all felt like solidly-built instruments, with the right appointments worthy of a Stratocaster.

Agreed. I own two Classic Player Strats, a 60s and a 60th Anniversary 50s and two recent American Standards and the Classic Players hold their own quite nicely. The Classic Players are more vintage sounding with Custom Shop 69s in the 60s and 57/62s in the 50s with no reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup in either set.

I preferred the Classic Player Strats to American Standards until 2012, when the change to Fat 50s pickups occurred. That was a big tone upgrade to one of my favorite Fender pickup sets. So, is it vintage with Custom Shop tweaks or modern? Both work for me. :)

I believe the CP 50's Strat does have a RWRP middle pickup for hum cancelling, even though the "standard" set of 57/62 pups don't have a RWRP middle pickup.

Hi,
I believe CP50 Strat comes with unusual wiring, one position of the switch puts the bridge and neck pickup in parallel, with the aim to emulate a Telecaster middle position. Might be cool!!!!!!

I'd heard that as well.
