A recent thread on pickups got me thinking about how many different kinds there are and how one musician's favourite may be the last choice for another.

The question is probably impossible to answer and may be as irritating as the one we've all been asked before - "what is your favourite song" - but just for grins and giggles and to mark my first use of the poll feature, I'll ask it anyway. If you had to choose only one, which pickup would you choose for your Strat?

Cheers!
BM

You listed a lot of very sweet pups, but if limited to only one choice, Fat 50s. 8)

Just realized that I should have started the ball rolling by stating my choice but in all honesty I'm really torn between the CS 69s and Texas Specials. ... but having to choose, I think I'd go with the CS 69s.

It's a good thing that we don't really have to choose in real life; just get more Strats.

Cheers!

Yes! I have the majority of the pups in that list, and a few others, but haven't tried the '56, '59 or '65. Now I have a great excuse to get three more Strats..........like I need a reason. I do want a '68 or '69 style with a maple cap like Hendrix used, really unique Strat, and that would probably be great with the '65s. Hmmmm.....

It's an interesting survey...of Fender brand pickups

I haven't tried most of them...but I found that what I have tried sounded too bland...like they didn't want to offend :D

My favorite set of Pups in a normal Strat are an SP set from Amalfitano Pickups in Ft Worth TX...roll off the volume and play Sweet...or turn it up and Rip

In a build with the Clapton Boost installed...I took martian's advice and went with DiMarzio stacked singles...

...my choice was the Area set...61- 58 - 67...they take the hum out of the boosted signal..even make cheap pedals sound better...they are musical and have a wide dynamic range...

That's my $0.02 :D
