Hey people,
When I got home today, I was gonna play my electric guitar, but I couldn't because the jack socket was somehow missing. I don't know if it got knocked off or something but now I can't play. My parents are going to kill me if they found I damaged it so I'm gonna try to pay for it myself. Any idea on how much it may cost me?

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.

Looks like the jack nut fell off. Take the 2 screws out of the jackplate and you will find the jack, now where did that nut fall off at?

I'm trying to look for it right now, are jack nuts sold individually? I thought that I could still plug the cord in but my idiotic senses got me there :P

Thanks for the welcome :]

Try asking at your local music store, they might have a spare parts bin with one in it.

Or drag the guitar into your local friendly hardware store to find a nut (and washer) that will fit it.

That way you wouldn't have to take the guitar apart to bring just the jack into the hardware store.

Or you could go to Radio Shack and buy a new jack and then just use the nut (keeping the jack as a spare for the day you need to replace it).

But, then he would have to solder. I'd do the former.

(BTW, what part of Washington are you from? Maple Valley for me...)

install the new nut while jackplate is off,, If you do it with jackplate on guitar the entire jack will turn.you wiil twist your wires inside the guitar and eventually they will break.

I thought all of my suggestions were solder-less, I guess I didn't word them precisely enough.

I'm in the Tri-Cities area, the dry Columbia basin, man!

Haha! Now that I re-read it, it does make sense. He'll only replace the plate and the nut - what a maroon I am!
