Hi--

I just bought a 2004-2005 MIM Strat on e-bay (SN:MZ4047912) that is finished white relic! I can't find any reference to MIM "relics" anywhere??? Is something strange going on here?

Thanks --David

The guy I bought it from didn't seem to know much about guitars and said he bought it new. It doesn't look like a home-made job~~(I havn't received it yet.)

Here's the link to the auction pics:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=001

I'm very puzzled.

first of all welcome to the forums and these types of questions get asked all the time on ebay people sometimes are liberal with the use of words my guess is you got a MIM that appears older if you like it no problems

Hello 1ManGarageBand,

$255 plus $25 for shipping
You got a used Mex standard,
home reliced.

Not a bad deal.

Enjoy the guitar.

Cheers.

PS Welcome to the forum.

It looks nice ... add some real dings over time and it'll be even more authentic looking.

The ebay listing did say it was from guitar center. Doesn't Guitarcenter sell alot of funky guitarcenter special guitars.

Congrats on a new Stratocaster! As far as I know, the only Mexican Fender guitar that has a relic finish is the Joe Strummer Telecaster.

Looks like you got a home-made relic. If you like it, it's all that counts. What bothers me is the sanding around the jack. Real relics usually come out of the Custom Shop. It needs more dings, they will come in time.
