That's happening a LOT lately...very frustrating...especially when I just wrote a long answer and it's gone when I hit preview.

Of course I check to see if I'm unable to connect elsewhere...nope...that's not it...I've got 'net.

What's happening to the website? Anything we can do...besides Saving everything we write just in case?

This thread should be posted in the "Lounge", it has nothing to do with "Stratocaster Guitars". And, check the Lounge for existing topics of this exact subject, there are already several threads, and some solutions.

I had to switch to Firefox. IE would take me to the forums but when I would try to log in it would take me to a screen saying unable to connect - check your internet connection.

Thanks fenderfan...I use Firefox and do check my connection each time...

...the problem doesn't lie in either of those areas.

I was hoping to find that it's a temporary problem with the website...it's only happening with this site.

I'll shoulder the burden and save my work...for the (occasional) benefit of the community.

Guess I wasn't clear - I wasn't telling you to check your connection. Was saying it would take me to a page saying "Unable to Connect - check your Internet Connection". Same with my Email. I could get to MSN.com with no problem but every time I clicked on Outlook to log into my Email a screen would pop up with the same failure to connect message. Photobucket too. After I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox the problem went away. Not sure why - never had problem with IE before.

Wish I could scrub it with bleach & mild detergent...but these pesky 'puter bugs are worse than germs...

They're VIRUSES

No doubt! All my kids' pictures are on my old XP computer but I'm afraid to transfer them over because I don't want those pesky bugs hitching a ride to my laptop.

Word to the wise...get an external drive...they're really inexpensive...and copy those precious pics...

...your old XP WILL totally fail eventually...seriously...

...that's happened to me several times...now I have two backups...

...I'm using a Seagate Backup Plus & WD Passport externals...as well as the new laptop and older desktop...

...I STILL feel insecure...thinking about some stuff going to a Cloud backup...if I can figure out what that is!

From my experience, loosing a post after clicking submit, has been a problem for a long time. It's happened to me several times and I know I've read of others making note of it. I don't usually put together long posts, but if I am trying for a detailed explanation of something, I'll copy it before I hit submit. It's very frustrating otherwise.
So, I don't think this is a new problem.
