Congrats Arjay! Now that's a beautiful "ting". How about a Taos Turquoise '56 Chevy to go with your '55 Strat.

And for those keeping score, what's the current count in the 6-String Stables?

Ironic that you should mention cars.

These two beauties showed up at our last car show in April......

Taos Turquoise is actually a Ford-inspired color, used on the 1955 Lincoln Excelsior. GM had a similar shade though.

This guitar brings my Custom Strat count to an even dozen though I suspect that this one will become my new "number one". Those specific DiMarzio pickups are the hottest I've ever installed. The bridge and neck pickups sound almost like P90 but with the bright, sparkly highs associated with a Fender single-coil.

Very nice looking guitar, Arjay.
I bet you could play the tint off that neck in no time flat.
Is that the original neck?

Original neck.

Here's the guitar in stock, unmolested guise......

Image

It was an Ebay purchase, in near-new condition and bought for a virtual song.

That's gorgeous...............

How does the heavy blues sound in the neck??? I'm wondering to put one in my strat but in the bridge position instead... I need more punch and more mids....
Any chance for a short tone demo?!?

I have no way to produce or post an audio file but rest assured, a DM Heavy Blues pickup at the bridge will definitely fatten up the tone and gain. For an even ballsier trip, try the Heavy Blues II. However, the latter pickup at the bridge may exact some sonic toll on a Strat's traditional chime.

IIRC it's acrylic lacquer shot over the original factory Surf Green poly finish.

Hey Arjay...is that a durable finish or delicate as in nitro lacquer?

It looks great...and there are a bunch of cool colors available.

I'd say it's a bit sturdier than traditional nitrocellulose lacquer. The original Taos Turquoise formula as used by FEIC in 1956 was also an acrylic lacquer, just like what was used on the Lincoln automobiles.
