I have a dilema: The fear of unnecessarily installing Straplocks on my 50th Anniversary Custom Strat and the fear that the guitar will eventually slip through a strap's button hole while reaching for a beer, a note (or woman ;-). Have I missed some simple, well-known techology or gadget that secures a guitar to a strap without Straplock installation?

Inquistively Yours... Thanks![/img]

I install Schaller straplocks on all my guitars. I have had no problems ever with one failing.

Buy a 4 pack of Grolsch beer and use the rubber o-rings for strap locks. Works great, low cost, and no modifications required. Oh yeah Grolsch is pretty tasty too!

I'd stick with straplocks cause once theyre in theyre in for good(with a few minor tightenings every 3-4 weeks)they're perfect

I use Fender Bass string retainers for strap buttons. This way you can switch straps without tools, and they are lower profile; you can leave the strap on the guitar in the case without digging out the foam. I recommend a longer screw than they come with.

The Dunlop ergo loks are supposed to be decent, and they don't require modification to your guitar. http://www.zzounds.com/item--DNP7007SI

Same here with me...this is the best way to go as far as I am concerned.
Schaller's have always been my favorites.

+ 3 for Schaller's, beats the alternative of having your axe hit the deck.

I use washers. just take out the stock strap buttons and find a washer that has a large enough inside diameter and put them on from the small part of the button then put the strap underneath the washer and screw the buttons back on the guitar. Hopefully that made some sense, i am not exatly very good at explaining things. i'll try to get a picture.
