This monthe Guitar Magazine from the U.K. cover and main story is about Lee Dickson who is in charge of all of Clapton's guitars and equipment Saiid that he felt bad when they auctioned off some of the guitars for Crossroads Rehab. That it was emontional to part with the 335 from the days with Cream and the he was attached to Brownie more than Blackie because of the Layla connection.. It a very good story in the mag. about how he does all the setups for Clapton and many of his friends when asked and has been Claptons right hand man since 1979.

I saw "Brownie" at the EMP (Seattle) last year April ('07). I was real close to it, but there was bullet proof glass between it and my greasy paws.

Anyway, there doesn't seem to be as much love for Brownie as there is for Blackie. I guess it's that whole '57 V-neck thing. But here's a pic of my own personal Brownie ('ceptin' it's ash and not alder):

It's great playing too, even if the low E string falls off the neck above the 14th fret

Actually that's not correct at all. Allman played some of the lead, and most of the slide.

This is the magazine it was in the link shows the August Mag. it was in the July issue The article was called In God He Trust.
Eric Claptons guitar tech Lee Dickson
http://www.guitarmagazine.co.uk/content/this.htm
I Heard as you did that they both played lead parts and Allmon played the slide. This is a good mag. to get. The link is showing the August issue the one that the article about Clapton and his guitar tech is in the July issue it was a great article to read. I buy the hard copys from the book store every month thay are ten dollars and I think better then any of the U.S. mags. They sell out fast.

If Fender were to make a replica of brownie, It would be nice if it came with the amp that Clapton used for recording "Layla". I think it was the tweed fender champ.
