Hey !

I installed the EMG DG20 kit on my Strat US Deluxe, but I'd like to change the EMG SA bridge pickup with an EMG 85. Do you know if there are many changes to make on the wiring ?

On this article Thomann , potentiometers and wiring elements are provided, where my doubts..

I tried to contact EMG support but no news..!

Thanks !

The first link is a loaded pg, so all wiring done except the output jack.

The 2nd is a straight EMG 85.

You do realize these are active pickups? You need battery power and space for the 9 Volt.

I have the EMG 80 & 85 in my FSR Custom Set Neck Telecaster HH:

I love them (really everything about this Tele). Amazing Tone, though I don't hear Gilmore in them at all.

cheers!

First of all, thanks for your reply ! :)

I have already installed this kit on my strat so I know about the battery, I put under the plate.

I just want to know if there are many changes to make on the wiring to change the SA pickup bridge for a 85.
Especially the two potentiometers are not tone knobs, but they are SPC/EXG.

I found this on the EMG website: http://www.emgpickups.com/skin/frontend ... s/ss89.pdf
But it's for tone potentiometers, not for SPC/EXG..

And this doc: http://www.emgpickups.com/skin/frontend ... cc-5wb.pdf
They specify three EMG pickups , except 89... So, even if there are three single pickups represented, the wiring is good for a set SA/SA/85 ?

That's my take. I do know that the pots on my EMG HH Tele are stock Fender Pots, same as used on SS Tele's if that helps...

cheers!
