Hey team, I am the origonal owner of a 1994 American Standard Strat, but it pales in comparison to the tone of a new MIM Classic 50's Strat. Anybody have one of these? I have always considered MIM to be of leser quality, but now it seems they are of exceptional quality. Any input would be really appreciated.

Also, do you know what the routing cavity is for this MIM Classic series? My American Stand. has the "swimming pool".

BTW, this is the classic series 50 I am looking at, not the classic player.

Thanks much to all for your comments.

I bought a Classic Series 50's Strat last month. I was in a local independent guitar shop buying a case for a Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet and there it was... a Surf Green 50's Strat. I own three other Stratocasters, including a 1965 I bought new years ago, and a Lone Star I bought in January of this year but I had to have it. It's absolutely gorgeous and the vintage pickups sound great. I can't put it down and I have a hard time putting back in its case because I enjoy looking at it.

I had a mexican made 50's stratocaster made in 2002 and my only dislike with the guitar (besides the orange tint to the neck was you had to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod. I don't miss that guitar. Are they still made that way?

Hello Makinglemonade,

Yep there still made this way,
but that' the way it was in the 50's and 60's.

I agree the headstock adjuster is way more
convenient but having done many neck adjustments
over the years it's not that big a deal{to me}.

The 70's brought us that cool bullet
truss rod adjuster.

Cheers.

I started buying MIM Fenders in 2005 and all my Mexican made Strats and Teles have the truss rod adjustment on the headstock. Removing the neck isn't necessary.

The tinted neck looks great on my Surf Green Classic Series 50s Strat. The contrast from the neck to the body is what sold me on the 50s over a Lake Placid Blue 60s Classic.
