Had a HSS that hadn't been played in long time and found a humbucker sized P90 so decided to try it out.

Played it for awhile first - forgot how good it was!

Still sounds awesome but in a completely different way. Tone is thick and fat, really vintage. When I combine it with the middle it turns warm and creamy. No hum either, by itself or with the middle.

Think I'll try to find a used black on black Squier and order a matching neck P90. Should look and sound great with 2 of them wired up tele style.. Then I can put my HSS back to how it was.

Thanks. My Seattle Seahawks Strat. Got it it used so don't know if someone changed the pickups or just put those covers on it. They sound good though.

I have a Tele with SD P90's. They are very hot, 11.5 neck, 14.5 bridge, and sound great. But they can be a little noisey. I'm doing some high gain stuff recently, and there's no way I can use them, even with a noise reducer pedal. But for lower gain stuff, they have a really full, fat sound that's very distinctive.

Have you tried shielding foil or paint?

No, it's only been a problem recently, since I've started using much more gain than I used to. I just consider this guitar to be better suited to less gain applications. It gets pleanty of play time so there's no need to try to make it into something it isn't.

Interesting you like the P90/single combo, I have never heard this interaction. Funky Strat there, color coded selector yeah!

I dig my P90's, and only have a Tele with em, vintage specs Seymour P90's, 7.00Kohm neck, 9,65Kohm bridge. Sweet & defined sounding clean or driven.
It's one of my go-to axes, the bridge I could play all day, and musos have commented how good this Tele vibes.

All original fender specs, except Snakey and the chrome covers.
It's a Squier Custom II, these are Seymour Designed P90's, but I'm not changing anything, it's the schizz as is.
Miraculously I'm not even changing the nut, as I usually do my guitars with compensated nuts.

The Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90 is similar vintage specs, but in a humbucker covered fitting. I may do this on a Strat, when I organise a black steel guard with square HB holes.
Yeah it's a Strat topic, but sadly it's all the P90 I got lol.

The saddle on the low-E is looking strange on the Tele?

By the way, is the neck a normal maple or something like an birdseye or something like that. It looks a little bit different.
