Gorgeous guitar!

Thanks!

Never been much of a gold hardware fan but it works on this Strat. The combination of the Desert Sand finish and the gold anodized pickguard pulls it all together.

Indeed it does!

I thought I'd built my last custom Strat.

I may have to re-visit that position......

The more the merrier someone once said. They had to have been a gear addict. :)

Always love the custom build threads. If you start one I will follow.

Had the chance to play the new American Standard HSS Shawbucker and the Blackout Strat Saturday. I have never been a huge fan of HSS Strats but the combination of the Shawbucker, the Custom Shop Fat 50s pickups and the dual 250k/500k pot rocked. I want one, preferably with one of the cool looking blue finishes.

Congrats on a real beauty, I thought I'd missed the boat too, but they are still out there!

A couple years ago I bought the 50s CP in Shoreline Gold (love it!). Liked it so much that when I saw the Desert Sand Anniversary Model with the anodized guard (always wanted a Strat with one of those), I had to have it. Just got mine about 3 weeks back, and it's been my most played guitar since.

Congrats to you, too! I haven't been able to put mine down very often since I bought it and I like to leave it out just to look at it when it's not being played. Think I'm hooked.

I have been a fan of the Classic Player series since it was introduced in 2006. Bought the Baja Tele first and then added a Classic Player 60s Strat a few months later. The 60th Anniversary CP 50s completes the set.

No single Stratocaster ever "completes the set", John.

Nor do only three.

No surprise, we have similar tastes. I got my first CP Strat (Sonic Blue 60s) about 6 months before I got the Shorline Gold 50s.

Bingeing the last month, I got another CP 60s (Vegas Gold) about 3 weeks before the Anniversary in Desert Sand, and a Sonic Blue Baja 60s Tele in between those two. Now if I can find enough quarters in couch cushions etc., I want to get a Baja 50s Tele by the end of the year (been wanting one for 2 years or more).

Perhaps I should rephrase that. It completes the Classic Player Strat set? That works a bit better but I could easily fall under the spell of one of the original Classic Players 50s Strats and have to buy it. Then there's the Classic Player 60s Baja Tele...

Yep, you're right. There is no such thing as a complete set. :)

Yes, you do have the Classic Player bug bad, but that's good. :D

I passed on the Vegas Gold 60s Strat and Baja Tele but the temptation was there. I will probably order a 60s Baja Tele some time this year. I love my original 50s style Baja. Its Twisted Tele neck and Broadcaster bridge pickup set is so good that it has been used on the American Standards since 2012. The Baja had it 6 years earlier in an $800 guitar.

Hmmm, but since this _is_ the Stratocaster board... next up for me will be an HSS American Standard Shawbucker Strat. Now we're 100% back on topic.
