My house tried to break me with repair expenses last year and I thought I had missed all the 60th Anniversary Strat fun. I played the 60th American Standard and the Classic Player 50s 60th and was about ready to pull the trigger when my house intervened. I hate when that happens but you don't know how important indoor plumbing is when you don't have it for more than a week. Oof.

Both of the the 60th Anniversary Strats I played had been sold by the time I had a gear fund again so I was Strat free for all of 2014. Then the new year arrived and I ran into a 60th Anniversary Classic Player 50s at an independent guitar ship in Phoenix that I rarely visit. I considered it a sign and took it home.

It's cool to have a Desert Sand finish duo. My first year Baja Tele has the urethane version of Desert Sand while the CP 50s has gloss lacquer. They're both fantastic guitars and long term keepers.

Nice pair...and they almost match your wall!

Congrats on the guitars...and having gotten past the house repairs!

Thanks, Arjay. I always wanted a Strat with '57/'62 pickups and I finally got one. So what if it was a year late. Good things come to those who wait or something like that.

The only quibble I had with the 60th Anniversary Classic Player was that position 4 was wired like a Telecaster in the middle position. Really? Neck/bridge instead of neck/middle? Not on this Strat. It's fixed now. :)

The wall is supposed to be light blue. Oh joy, another potential house expense cutting into my gear fund. I'll rename it faded country blue and skip the expensive painting job for now.

LMAO

I've had my share of plumbing problems too. This year (thus far) the garbage disposal took a dump. Last year it was the cut-off valve under the sink in the hall bathroom.

Ah, the joys of home ownership! At least I speak un poco Español so I can converse with my plumber.

I had a septic system failure. One of the underground pipes from the house to the tank collapsed, and of course that was the part of the house's plumbing I use the most. I was fortunate that the water that backed up was washing machine rinse water rather than, ahem, other types of waste water. :)

It ended up being a $4,200 hit to my budget so gear was out of the question for most of 2014. Here's hoping the money pit is a bit more cooperative this year.

Nah, you're okay, T2. The key words are supposed to but the afternoon desert sun has a way of fading everything eventually... including me. :)

Or burning it to a crisp. I got pretty toasty at last week's car show. Still got the itchies.

These are fantastic guitars! Love mine.

Tell me, how does it sound with 4th position wired for neck/middle? I'm keen to do this on mine, but quite enjoy the neck/bridge combo so am a little cautious.

Yeah, it won't be long before it's searing hot. Oh well, more time to play guitar in air conditioned comfort and less time out in the heat. I can do that.

It sounds good and like a Strat should. :)

I have been a neck/middle guy since I first discovered the in between positions on my '65 Strat's 3-way switch years ago. It's my favorite clean tone and it must be there. I didn't dislike the neck/bridge tones but I have Teles for that.

+1

It's a primary signature tone for a Strat, whether clean or gritty.
