I am not 100% sold on the guitar color but it is growing on me.

If gaudy was the objective, I'd say the finish fulfills that criterion by 115%.

OK, Now picture it in Candy Apple Red. :D should be here next week.

Jay

Jay, glad to read you decided to make your changes and acted on them early. Nice choices, by the way.

Although, your first Strat colour didn't bother me as much (thought it worked with the Tweed okay), it wouldn't have been my first choice.

Colour is a funny thing and very personal. Knowing that car colours historically grace the Fender line, let me tell you a story. I once did a training video for a car dealer. When a salesman asked how to sell the one ugliest car with the ugliest upholstery and lack of accessories, the pros told him that because it was a one off, it would sell itself. Lesson learned.

For me, I had a screamin' deal on a used 2011 Amn Dlx Strat that was used weekly for a church. It was a mint Tungsten/Rosewood/ Black guard with black controls which matched my amp. It played great, but after a month I still could not come to liking the finish, only because it reminded me of my old car and the taxi that the neighbour has. I didn't like the brown neck with the grey body and nice black hardware. If the fingerboard had been ebony and if the headstock matched or complemented the body . . . it might still be in my possession. That's just me and I know others like this look (so no offence intended). The Tungsten has been dropped from the line in many, if not all cases, and that may or may not benefit owners.

Fortunately, my music store made a fair exchange for a 2012 sunburst, maple fingerboard, and a body that looked like a one piece (you have to look hard to see the joint). I did have other colour preferences, such as Daphne Blue and certain white schemes, but colour choice on this model was limited, etc. I'm glad I made an exchange, and I know you will feel great for the same reason.

So, I congratulate you on choosing the Candy Apple now. Have fun with your new candy, Jay. :P
