The equation is always fairly basic.
Quality guitar + Quality Amp. The amp is 50% of your sound t.

At least if not more in my opinion.

Ok. Now I know that it wasn't my guitar. Nope.... As you guys pointed out, I was lacking in the amp department. I took my guitar back where I got it and spent about three hours getting an education. I tried a bunch of different higher quality amps and found that it wasn't my guitar that was sucking. It kicked butt when I plugged it back into the amp that I demo'ed it with. That amp wasn't in my budget but there was three Blues Juniors available to play with.

I plugged my guitar in to those and some others; Hot Rod Deluxe and Hot Rod Deville's and in the end after alot of work and sampling about 15 guitars (for the different pickups) I was more than happy with a Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed.

I checked the five switch settings on my guitar and with each setting it sounded clean and crisp. I compaired an American Standard with Fat '50s and one with the Shawbuckler (sp?) pick ups and they had muddy tone on atleast one of their five switch settings. So I traded the Ramparte back in and walked out with the Blues Junior. I can say all is good now! :D

Here is a picture.

Thanks for the help guys. It is much appreciated.

Jay

Your Superchamp X2 is sensitive to guitar output. With a high volume from the guitar, it goes into high gain mode, With low volume, it selects low gain.
Do you have your guitar cranked up? It may sound better that way.

If gaudy was the objective, I'd say the finish fulfills that criterion by 115%.

I love the Tweed look. To me it spells Fender 50's & 60's.
More than likely I will be buying a Blues Deluxe amp in tweed with matching bottom Cabinet.
After having a Hot Rod Deluxe, in retrospect, it definitely needed to push an additional cabinet totaling 4 speakers. But the HR was a bit too sharp edged. But this is from a perspective of a warm fuzzy brown sound..

Jay, I'd say you made the right decision...the second time around. Chalk it up to experience, and a new player's enthusiasm. Hopefully, you also learned a valuable lesson about dealing with music store employees, particularly those at the "big box" types of the GC ilk.
I'm not familiar with "Ramparte" amps, so I can't comment on that. The Super ChampX2 isn't a bad little amp, but it does have a bunch of nonsensical "modeling" circuitry, and on-board effects-these are all just more things to go wrong at some point in the future. I'd advise using them sparingly, if at all. These are features you are probably going to want to avoid in the future-stomp boxes are the way to go. Likewise, switching out the original speaker certainly can't hurt.
The Classic Player '60's series has been my favorite of the Fender MIM line for quite sometime-nothing the matter with that instrument. I do agree that if I had the chance to switch it out for the Candy Apple Red finish I'd do it in a heartbeat.
The Blues Junior is a great little amp, very much in the Fender tradition. The tweed version looks cool. Hopefully it will give you years of service.

Candy Apple Red..... Yes it does... To be fair in comparison it is like a star lit night versus Mardis Gras...

The base in Candy Apple is either a gold flake or silver flake. Depending on the effect you want. Over that base goes a translucent red, again the amount of coats dictate the intensity. Final coats are multiple clear coats.. Now this is the way we did it in the body shop. Most of Fenders colors are derived from automotive for codes and therefore applications.

I love Candy Apple Red, I'm actually seriously debating wether I will repent ( I meant repaint  ) my S4 from Brilliant Red to either Crimson Red Pearl or Candy Apple Red.
Only issue with Candy Apple Red is that it is difficult to do. Any runs or uneven depth on the underlaying coats will show up big time after the clear is applied. But you cannot see the imperfections until the clear coats accumulate...

BTW I just looked at a Blues Junior amp finished in a wood cabinet tobacco sunburst. would be perfect for the CAR Strat... I'm sure both will dial up to 11....

Well in all fairness, I am a wee bit color blind. I was in GC today and the tag on the strato that I looked at said the guitar was candy apple red. It was translucent as a candy apple red should be but I did not see any metal flake. In fact it looked like it was over a silver base coat.... But what do I know I am red-green colorblind. It was a MIM Strat too but it was like a two hundred dollar one. Maybe the finish on the one that I am getting will have the metal flake base coat. We will see. Either way. I am sure that I will like it.

I know that on a car candy apple red is pretty. An S4 with that color would be sharp!

Candy Apple Red doesn't project under neon light but out in sunlight or stage lights it will change hues as the light refracts from different angles.
