If Green was part of one his user names, then yes, I would fall off my seat.

HA HA HA !!! Now that would be a MIRACLE!!!!!! But NO! Sorry he would not appreciate me throwing his name around.

Xhefri,
So I'm a little off topic here, but I think this is important concerning Strat Plus Series guitar.
I came across this video of a guy claiming the guitar he is showing is a fake. The only thing that I'm skeptical about is the neck. The neck looks like a Strat Plus neck. I don't remember Fender producing Ultras with maple necks and gray locking tuning keys. Everything else looks ligit.

Funny listening to people talk about their guitars. This guitar is one of three things, and I can't be sure which-is-which due to the poor quality of the video and the lack of showing the body closer. It is 1) a Fender Strat Plus DX with an Ultra pickguard (and some of the case candy) or 2) an Fender Ultra that someone popped a Strat Plus maple neck on. He does not show the neck plate which should say Ultra as well. Sometimes people do not like Ebony so they will do a neck swap. OR 3) There are so many Partscasters floating around, who knows if a person did not buy a bunch of assorted parts of eBay and just put this together. BUT, an Ultra NEVER came with a Maple neck.

If it were a Ultra it would have a flamed Maple top and back under the Blue Burst. If it is a Strat Plus DX it will have Ash grain under the Blue Burst. And the DX Fender Floyd Rose trems bars where chrome with NO tip. LOL! I have seen this guitar before, I think, for sale on eBay or Reverb. It was being advertised as an Ultra. I have sold a couple nice plus guitars, just to have the person tell me, Oh I am going to put such and such neck on this body and then put this neck on this other guitar I have—thus the mix and match messed up confusion starts a few years down the road!

On side note, I'm trying track down an '87 Strat Plus I owned, but for some reason, sold.

It was stripped to wood and stained golden brown with rosewood fret board guitar and
and
had been signed by Stacy Mitchhart.

Good luck! Finding a guitar like that once it has been sold it really hard!

I just bought a Deluxe America Standard Strat (the one with the 3 gold lace sensors as stock) (1989 E8 Serial). As far as I can tell the pickups and wiring are all stock.

The guitar does not sound good. It has a treble bias and the sound seems very unrefined. I have a Strat plus of the same year that sounds correct and has a more mellow complicated sound.
It’s the same on all pickups and at different pickup heights. It sounds too different to my other guitar that I feel something is wrong (rather than just tonal variations between guitars). Is there a capacitor that could have gone – or any other explanation for this? And how do I fix it?

Sure would be nice, since you started this thread, that you could post back and let us know if you got it fixed or not. When there are so many ideas toss around, it is always good to know: AH HA! That is what it was!!!! Please let us know!

Well I'm actually playing the guitar now with the old strings... Will perhaps change them later today or tomorrow!
Strange thing is I play this guitar differently to my others... Strange... I'm trying to work out if it's the feel or the different sound it makes before changing the strings.

I play my Telecaster and Dlx Strat Plus differently than my other Stratocasters.

Did you try raising the pickups so they are close to the strings? That is an easy thing to do/test.

Sound is at a similar volume to my other plus so I assume the earth is ok but I will check continuity and resistance over the solder joints when I change the strings... No cut outs in sound and the pick-ups are pretty close to the strings.
I love late 80's strats and have a 4 from this time. I love the feel of the neck, 22 frets and the sound. I personally love the E4 serial necks. My 96 US strat I bought new as a kid is not as well made... And the frets are toast and need refretting... So it stays in its case.
And my 76 strat goes out of tune just looking at it so it's just eye candy these days.

If your having tuning issues, have someone look at the nut. 9 out of 10 times, it's the nut.

Someone has stripped the body on the 76 strat so the neck is a loose fit. I could probably find a solution to it but there are other reasons I don't like it... Mostly the pick-ups have been changed and sound pretty bad... I've put a Texas special in the mid position which sounds fine though... Just not really wanting to spend more money on it to going as I have enough other very playable guitars. Other thing is its a really warn maple neck so looks awesome but not very smooth to play.

So I've changed the strings and the sound is I better. Not the same as my other with gold lace sensors but I'm ok with the sound. Treble does not break up with the new strings and sounds a little more complex and balanced from base to treble.
And it's kIndia pointless having 2 guitars with exactly the same sound!
Thanks for all the help...
