Fender's website is showing that the olympic white Classic 70's Strat is only available with a maple neck. They show that the other color choices are available with either maple or RW. Can I get an olympic white with RW neck if I order direct?

To be honest you're better off asking customer services http://www.fender.com/contact-us

When you see something like that on Fender's website it is usually a clue that at the very least there aren't any of them available in the warehouse system. Now it could also be a clue that the Olympic White color is being discontinued on this model and they don't intend to make any more with rosewood fingerboards.

As stratmangler says that is a question for consumer relations.

The Classic 70's Strat never got the respect that the '50s and '60s models received. While they were available in a plethora of standard and custom colors, the CBS-era lookalike only came in 3TSB, natural ash, black, and Oly White (either rosewood or maple fretboard). That the meager selection of options has yet been pared again does not bode well for those who prefer the '70s model in general. Another tragic marketing strategy.

But then in 6 months they can bring it back to a fanfare of trumpets and announce it as a whole new line. :-)

That is the problem with historically inspired, re-issues, replicas etc.; you only have as many variations as there were previously.

I'm sure they will be back in one guise or another.

+1

Look how much mileage Fender has gotten from re-releasing the 12-string Strat.
