Hello,

I am new to this forum as to the fender guitars. I have the possibility to buy a stratocaster. I have the guitar with me for a couple of days to use it. Since i have no experience with a stratocaster I would like to ask you if it is normal that it feels like the toneknob gives a click at the number 10. They do not turn in one flowing movement.

greetings
Wim

That slight detent you feel when rolling the tone control to the "10" position indicates that it's what is known as a "no-load" pot, where built-in switching removes that control from the guitar's wiring circuit. It's useful when high-gain output is required because all components in an electric guitar cause insertion loss to the signal from the pickups due to their innate nature. Some Fender guitars are configured with no-load pots as a factory configuration -- others are simply modded by the owner to add this feature.

Is it normal that this no-load knob has been installed on a strat? I nottice that it is installed on a standard telecaster but not on a standard Stratocaster. According to the store it is a new guitar without modifications.

The American Standard (SSS) has a "Control 250K split shaft, no load".
The wiring diagrams for current models can be found in the product pages, under "SUPPORT" tab.

Am Std Strats have had the "No Load" tone pot as standard for years.
