1980's Japanese strat neck (amazing condition)
Brand new replacement MIM standard body (three tone burst with very little red)
Gold anodized aluminum guard

I already have a sTratocaster with 54 CS and have had several Texas Special Strats.

I really want a new flavor for this one ! fat 50's ??? 69's ??? non fender ??? I love bold piano lows and smooth highs, my CS 54's handle that pretty well so..........

High mass bridge block on the way, I love how the saddles aged on this !
other pickguards are a possibility too

Fat 50s would be awesome, and another good choice would be Tex Mex. The Tex Mex are amazing considering the price, and they sound very "Stratty", jangly.

The soundclips of these sound good. I've ordered a few sets of his pickups but not this model. Quite a few different ones on his site to sample.

I have yet to try either fat 50's or tex mex, although I may have plugged in a jimmy Vaughan strat in a store at one time or another.
never heard a bad word about lollar either.
I really wanted to hot rod another Tele, this guitar came up and was a bargain so....... can't pass up a sweet look'n Strat ! 8)

This is what was under the hood.
Some folks out there dig that ceramic punch in their pickups, i like the smooth Alnico tones myself

Only bad thing about Lollars are the price! I've gotten a few sets for guitar and bass. Was at Guitar Center today looking for a cheap MIM to put his humbucker-sized singlecoils into. Basically hand-wound P90's on steroids. These are standard HB size and can get with a tort top. Saw an Olympic White Strat today with tort pickguard and didn't look bad. Makes me think I should get a tort HH pickguard and a better bridge for my old Squire instead of looking for a MIM to mod.

Mine should be here tomorrow

You don't have to, it's mainly about finding the sweet spot for each pup. I just go by sound, and tweak the heights up or down while playing.

If you can tell from this pic, this is how mine ended up being set. I have the neck pup lower on the bass side, the mid and bridge are set a little higher on the bass side, with the bridge being higher overall than the others.

Like Shimmi I frequently find myself adjusting my pups such that they aren't level. Bass lower at the neck. Bass higher at the bridge. I do that part first to balance the tone between the pups to how I like it and then I'll adjust overall height of each pup to balance volume and signal strength while trying to keep the side to side angle roughly the same. Counting turns per side.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Its just that several posters referring specifically to the Tex Mex pups having to be set low for optimum sound.
My 50th with the C/S 54's are set up very similar to Shimmilous pictured strat so........
I also just picked up a bargain priced 2014 Melody maker with twin P-90's and that has filled my "hot pickups" guitar role pretty well for the moment 8)
