I'm looking at buying this 62 reissue strat, but obviously want to make sure that it's the real deal first.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fender-Strat ... 3cf4db9bce

Also, it's not listed whether it's US or Japan, but I assume it's US because of the price...?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

The "V" prefix on the neck plate indicates USA vintage reissue. The following numbers are just numbers.
The only way of accurately finding out the date of manufacture is by disassembling the guitar and looking for date stamps.

I can see nothing that looks out of place in the photos - it looks like it's a well looked after instrument.

It looks nice. If you're really concerned email Fender with the serial number and they can verify it for you.

I can pin the date down a bit - it has the aged/greenish pickguard and the pickups have beveled polepieces so it's at least a 1998 (and an American Vintage series, not the prior series). The AVRI '62s still came with tweed cases until some time in 2000, so I would pin it down to be between 1998 and 2000. I had a 1999 AVRI '62 Strat, and it came in that same style tweed case (not a G&G; Fender was getting them from somewhere in Mexico at the time).
