Hello guys, I've come across a MIJ Strato but I'm concerned about it's legitimacy mostly cause of the headstock Logo and the Neck/body joint that I've never seen in any other Japanese Fender instrument.
I've e-mailed Fender, but it's been more than a week since and still have no feedback whatsoever...
So I'd appreciate some help, is it a legit Fender?
Thanks

According to this site, this guitar was manufactured in Japan in 1994-1995.

That would make my 12 string Strat '94-'95 or '07-'10.

Looks legit to me, dot spacing and pickguard screw spacing is right for a Japanese model
I have a 1995 MIJ , the MIJ's and CIJ's overlapped around this time

Interestingly enough, the guitar dater usually gives a 2 year range (mine gives 1995-1996) but I know for a fact it is 20 years old later this year as the sales slip, is dated November 1995

I go against the mainstream here, but I'd say that is from the latter CIJ period (S+six digits 2006-2008).

The model looks like ST62 ALLBLK

But: what do those papers beside the guitar say, what's in the neck pocket?

But isn't that logo a little off? I mean, every single MIJ Fender out there have Stratocaster, Precision Bass, Telecaster, or whatever model the instrument is, not just the Fender logo stamped on it. My concern is someone spray painted the neck and stuck the Fender logo on it.

The peghead pic in my link to the AllBlack page is real small and gives no help...
But check this this sales ad from Rakuten - there is no model name on the headstock.
So, IMHO it looks legit.

Anyway, the price of the guitar should reflect that it's a Japanese Strat model that's sold new for about 600$ - so how much is the seller asking?
And repeating: what do those papers beside the guitar say, what's in the neck pocket?

I've seen those links but it looks like it is the the same guitar on both sites. The problem is that those are the only pics I've seen so far of a headstock with just FENDER on it which is kind of odd these days.
The price is relative since I'm not from US so I expect to pay more than the average price.

Regarding the papers I did not see them yet but the store is going to send me a picture of them, one is the manual and the other is the bill of sales that he says it has it's serial number, models and all so I'll let you guys know.

I'm just bummed that Fender still hasn't return my e-mail yet, it would be so much faster!

If you emailed Fender USA, they usually have very little info on Japanese models - of course, a notification of this would have been a nice answer.

The pics on Rakuten, there's a protective tape on the pickups, the pics on FenderJapan not - the model is the same, but the individual guitar... guessing no.

Your pics show the truss rod hole in the peghead, pics in my links not. FenderJapan may have changed the rod adjustment since the guitar was made - but that's one reason I'm not yet totally sure and asked for the additional info. And of course, any internet wisdom must be considered as such, and the final decision on trustworthiness is yours.

Rakuten ships globally, so you can do a pretty accurate comparison on the price level. Price of the new guitar, plus Rakuten's estimated shipping costs, plus any national customs/taxes/usual extra price you have in your 'hood...
