Save for the authentic vintage models, Fender did everyone a favor, including themselves, when they routed the Strat bodies HSH.

Does that mean my 2012 Amn Dlx Strat SSS is routed so that, with a change of pups and pickguard and what not, I can make the change to HSH or HSS without having to put that router to work? For now I like the SSS, but ya never know, I might jump off the cliff in the future.

Yes all Mexican and American strats save the Vintage lines as Doc mentioned are routed for a humbucker in the neck and bridge under the pickguard.

Woo Hoo! Thanks for that Donny (and Doc).

No problem, I have a HSS Pickguard and a SSS both mint green for my Stage Strat, I run a Black Atomic in it some times and a Seymour Duncan Texas Hot at other times. I ran that Seymour Duncan Texas Hot bridge pickup through Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets and flipped the polarity to match Fender Fat 50s and Texas Specials. Seymour Duncan Antiquities are polar opposites of Fenders, thats the easy fix for the problem. It now works perfect and my 2 and 4 positions are completely humbucking.

That's great info, Donny. I like how you swap the pickguard/setup. One of the things that prevented my going HSS was that a lot of the axes i tried out seemed to have a volume (or perhaps, major tone related difference . . . not to confuse with sound choice ) that did not flow between single and humbucker switching. They were okay alone, but, to switch from one to the other while playing, I found that often there was too much of a spread to take. So I admire what you have done to better match the pups.

Cheers.

I was originally going for a tortoise pearl white pickguard, but I changed my mind when I too saw the mint pickguard. Lovin' it.

Thats another thing I noticed with the 500k pots is when I shift from the Fat 50s in the neck and middle to the Atomic in the bridge its more even sounding, at least through an overdrivin amp.
