I can only play Les Pauls during the Ted Nugent Tribute band I do. So When I get a gig thats just my Classic Rock band and originals which is kind of rare, I play my Strats and pretend Im Hendrix and Gilmour and such.

How did I miss this thread? Good one...Donny are you using 500K Pots (3) in a Strat w/Semour's Antiquities?

Are they single coil or SC size 'buckers?

What's your Resonant Peak Value? sorry

Those Vids were cool...you made it look easy...BTW..I liked the Hendrix 8) :D

Hi :)
Yes I use Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot set and the CTS 500k Vintage Taper on the volume and the CTS 500k Audio Taper on the tones. Its is American Standard wired with the jumper loop for the bridge pickup tone 2 tap. I used the Fender Pure Vintage .1 Wax and Foil capacitor.

Its a very robust capacitor and the sweep with 500k is cool too. I like to roll it back to 8 all the time on the bridge pickup. I use the same setup with CS Fat 50s and an Atomic Bridge and its just smoking through my current BOSS Super Overdrive turned up all full blast and tone on 5 or 6 through a Marshall JCM 2000 100 Watt half stack. I use only minimum effects a chorus and delay noise gate and wah all BOSS. Its pretty mean but super classic rock tasteful ya know.
I also run the Duncan Hot Rodded set in my Les Paul. 500ks

I was going to ask you about the noise gate, I was pretty sure you had one in the video's. I've only used one once and I know I didn't have it set right. It was slow to kick off, so I discounted it's usefulness. I will probably give one another go, as I'm starting to use more gain than I used to.

Yes I do use a BOSS NS-2 Noise Gate and a BOSS DD-3 Delay through my effect loop now but I believe I did these video through my Line 6 Spider Valve 100 watt Bogner designed tube head. It sounded great at lower levels but it was no Marshall when turned up.
Funny story about that I went into Guitar Center to buy a new Marshall Stack and my buddy was the manager there and pointed out for the same price I could get the Line 6 tube 100 watt stack and have effects too.
I spent my $3000 I had on it and ended up getting the Marshall later anyway. All those effects and all I ever use is overdrive a tuner a wah a chorus delay and noise gate. I will admit the clean was neater but I only use clean once in a while. I did play all my gigs with it for about the last three years no problems. Its not the little econo Spider III and IV this was the full on pro level rig. Still no Marshall.

I have started changing out my pots on all my single coil Strats to 500k fender cts pots. The sound is amazing. Does anyone else do this? I'm also running .05 vintage caps as well.

It's been discussed in the Forums in the past. Said to get 'more air' out of the pickups using the 500's.

On that note: I don't know if there would be a reason to, or if it would even work, to change to 500k pots with N3s or SCNs. Any opinion or experience with this?

I was under the impression that although the Fender Vintage Noiseless ran 1 Meg tone pots the N3's used standard 250k. Could be wrong but is what i use with my N3's.
