Hi guys, first post here.
Just wondering, do yous think it would be safe to put either of those two sets of strings on my strat, and tune it up to e? Would it be alright on the neck.
Thanks

The OP's talking about Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys, a set from .011" to .054, and EB Not Even Slinkys (.012" to .056).

Some Affinities I've set up had a very flexible neck. If yours happens to be such an individual, you just got to see how it plays.
You will have to check the nut slots and adjust the truss rod and intonation, along with the trem settings (oh well, that just about sums up to a full setup).
One way to go would be starting with the Beefys, see how the Affie handles them.

I can't imagine why you would want to do such a thing...unless seriously in to pain. :?

Perhaps... yes... it may be one of those "Hurt So Good" type of things... only the OP knows

But... to answer the question... as long as the guitar's truss rod is in good working order... you can string that thing with high tension telephone line cable if you want to...

BUT... the nut slots may need to be tweaked...

My normal strings are D'Addario EXL110s (0.010-0.046) on most of the guitars around here, but I use D'Addario EXL115s (0.011-0.049) on my Mex Strat.
It is tuned to E♭, and the increase in string gauge is to compensate for the lack of tension on the lower strings.

Perhaps the OP is more into dropped tunings than pain - D or C tuning would seriously flap with a set of 10s 8)

I have been using Not Even Slinkys (but with a .020" as G string) on my '62 AVRI for 4 years - tuned to E.
