Thanks to everyone who has chimed in, I guess I misspoke when I started the thread off with the question of wanting to to know why Fender doesn't offer more hardtails. I knew the easy answer was sales but it still bothers me.
I stand corrected regarding the limited edition 70s styled American Special Hardtail. I did not know that was available. As far as the Cray model, I am aware of it and had one previously but traded it and wish I hadn't.

And it's not that I want a hardtail so bad. I have two and a regular strat with the trem tightened down. I just feel it should be an option on the regular rank and file standard $500 MIM strats and/or the Squier models (bullets excluded).

The hardtail Yogi built is a nice guitar for sure! Hopefully your son will enjoy it someday!

Anyway, it is what it is. I'm going to go play my guitar 8)

Here's one on eBay, but it's a bit pricey:

Not to be a wise-ass, but do you have a screw driver and a piece of wood around the house?
Many, many non-trem fanciers (E.C., for one) have dealt with this issue easily for ages. Tighten the claw, screw the bridge plate all the way down, put on all the springs, and wedge a fitted piece of wood behind the trem bridge. Adjust string height to your taste. Shim if necessary. Problem solved. No big deal. Simply wishing Fender would do this or that ain't gonna solve your problem.

My solution exactly. I've never had to shim though - just tighten the claw, wedge the wood in and let the claw back out.
