Hey guys I've recently bought this baby and I´m doing some work on it and would really like to know firstly what pickups could it be on this one? Im gonna buy new ones but id like to know whats on it first!
The guitar was made in november 2003 Corona, CA and thats all i know rly so what can u tell me about this Strata?

I scraped some paint at the neck and some other places made everything smooth before putting it together again! Blocked the tremolo ala eric johnson style and removed paint before, some stuff I've read could improve the sound and holy crap it was amazing!! maybe someone have more tips!? would be cool! Think I'm gonna rewire with new luxury wires etc as well :D

But most important thing is what the specs really are on this one i can't really tell myself!

Heres some Pics:

Hi Johnnyb0y,

You already know about as much as we can tell from the pictures. The pups look like "Tex-Mex" to me, but maybe someone else can identify them. For more detailed specs, contact Fender Consumer Relations with the serial number.

http://www2.fender.com/support/articles/contact-consumer-relations/

Or , maybe Rob will chime in and save you the time. :)

2003 Fender Frontline; There is no American Standard , this guitar look American Series , page 62
Specs says ; American series single coil . Page 84

Same in 2004 Frontline.

I don't know why Fender call a Am Stand looking guitar a Am Series ????

I think the OP has confused Johnson and Clapton, the latter being the one that decked his bridge. There is no evidence that Clapton ever "blocked" his bridge, despite the block of wood that comes with the Clapton Strats, but he simply used five springs and tightened the trem claw screws to deck the bridge and keep it from moving.

It started as the Am Std, then they switched the name to Am Series, then back to Am Std. :?

Pickups are AlNiCo V single coils with staggered polepieces. This guitar has a hot bridge pickup for sizzling lead tones.

Electronics include a DeltaTone circuit with a no-load tone control for the middle & bridge pickups.

I just followed an interesting article on improving Strat tone and it worked amazingly for me, with the paint scrub and blocking tremolo/bridge with just small pocket change, i don't rly know who came up with it some said johnson do this paint removal thing on all his guitars idk it worked fine for me anyhow!

Johnnyb0y,

I have a paper copy , no PDF. I 'll try to do some pages in PDF today

As I say there is no Am Stand in 2003 and 2004 Fender Catalog . Fender call them American series .
Why Fender play with names ?

It is not a lower model it is same as the well know American standard .

It is a very good guitar .

IMO Fender did not respect their customer with new names for same guitar

Lower model do not have same bridge / sadles

The few PDF I'll post you do not help very much , you won't see all other guitar .

PDF tomotrow if you don't mind . I'm at the maximun upload / download . Tomorrow I start à 0.

I own the same guitar but it is a 2002 model. I was under the impression it went by "American Standard" as well as 2003. Does anyone know for sure what years it was called "American series"? I have heard the term "American standard series" which wiki says "as of 2012" but not sure if that is official.

EDIT: Found this info on another forum (Strat-Talk). Is it accurate?

There was no American Standard series in '02.

Fender named their American strats "American Standard" from 1987 to 1999. IN 2000 they renamed (the same guitar for the most part) the "American Series" and then in 2008 they made a few more revisions (bent steel saddles) and renamed the series the "American Standard" once again.
