Advertised for sale as below - pretty vague really

Quote:
This is a classic Strat, built during a period when Leo Fender was brought back to the Fender company to build the guitars the way he use to in the 50;s and 60's.

This is the Tobacco Sunburst model and made in the American factory. The guitar comes with a new style Fender hard case.

A few years ago, I had a reliced pickguard loaded with Jeff Beck Hot Noiseless pickups installed as well as a reliced backing plate. However, I still have the original pickguard with the original pickups and all wiring etc., as well as a perloid pickguard and backing plate and all of these extras are being included in this sale.

Comes with these as well

I looked up the Serial number and it seems to have been built in America alright

But I cant workout what model it is as the PUP's have been changed

Anybody help out?

I'm tossing up between this and a mint ( i.e glass case displayed 2004 USA Strat in black with maple neck) never played option.

Thanks & Cheers

Cheers for the reply ... the 1st video is helpful in many ways but like everybody who reads this I only have those photos to go by atm.

I'm currently in Cambodia and the guitar in question is in Australia

Sorta confusing as I haven't spoke with the guy selling it yet so I'm trying to get some knowledge to make sure he's honest. Doesn't help that he has changed the PUP's and pick guard.

Thanks

These " new " noiseless pickups could be better than original ones .

I suspect you are correct ... does sound like he wanted to modify to a certain sound and look. 8)

It's understandable. I bought a '77 hardtail Strat online from a dealer while I was deployed to Iraq and the dealer was in the US.

From what I can tell, the guitar looks right to me.

Interestingly enough, I'm about to meet with a buyer for a '76 Strat I'm selling to get something else.

Probably that switch was added with the other electronics mods... And that, for me, would insinuate that the modder really knew what he/she was after.

I agree with others above, body/neck/hardware look legit for a 1991/1992 AmStd Stratocaster. Can't make anything out of the smudge on the back of the headstock; there may have been a stamp by the store that sold it then.
And if I've understood the AUS price levels right, that 950$ ain't bad (especially if it's AUD  ) for this guitar, plus extras, plus case.

Here's the original gumtree ad
