Hello,

I own Vintage Hot Rod '62 strat made in 2005.

I noticed that my tone loses its highs when I roll back the volume on a guitar. I read on forums that it's usually caused by absence of a capacitor on a volume pot.

Could anyone confirm that guitars of my model go without this capacitor preinstalled?

If so, what is the best capacitor to install? (I use Seymour Duncan antiquities)

Thanks!

The easiest way to check if there's a cap is to take the pickguard off.
This way is valid even if someone has modded the guitar...

BTW, I was under the impression the Vintage '62 Hot Rod wasn't introduced until 2007..?

I'll recheck that.

So I need to buy 100k resistor and a 0.002mf cap.

Could anyone share a link to exact resistor and cap I should go with for the best sound?

There is no "one right answer". Different systems, values give different results.

Here is one treble bleed system that's IMHO worth trying (it's for a 500K pot but works with 250K, too):

You could check on Fender guitars wiring to see what Fender use

There are three different configurations of the treble bleed circuit. The most commonly used configuration is the parallel circuit. It consists of a small resistor and a small capacitor placed on the volume pot between the pickup output and the jack input (usually the left and center leads as you are looking down at the pot).

Here is a treble bleed kit I put together just prior to installing it on my Gretsch:

As for the value of the components, there are different opinions, but the most popular is the one suggested by Seymour Duncan who recommends 100k for the resistor and .002 uF for the capacitor.

These guys sell caps for .047 and .022. http://www.angela.com/angelacopperfoilp ... tor-2.aspx

Is it worth paying 28$ for it?

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... F&_sacat=0

Im not sure what should I pick from here. Same thing for resistor. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Could you send a link to resistor as well? I'm not sure what wattage should I choose.

Also I saw http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guitar-Volume-Treble-Bleed-Kit-for-Single-Coil-Pickup-Silver-Mica-Capacitor-/300887771345?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460e4f08d1 on ebay. Is it good? Im reluctant because capacitors value is too big.

A 1/4 watt 150K ohm resistor is just fine. Here's a pack of 10 of them at Stew-Mac for less than $4.00 USD.

In fact, Stew-Mac has a complete, assembled treble bleed circuit for less than $7.00 USD.

You can use the ceramic cap version or the Orange Drop version, they are exactly the same values.

1/2 watts is a standard power, 1/4 is ok too

Also I saw http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guitar-Volume-Treble-Bleed-Kit-for-Single-Coil-Pickup-Silver-Mica-Capacitor-/300887771345?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460e4f08d1 on ebay. Is it good? Im reluctant because capacitors value is too big.

I can't read resistor color code :(
