The Stratocaster is one of the most copied guitars on the market, and without fail someone will buy what they believe to be an American made Strat only to ask the question, "Is this real?"

Here are two videos to help ID American Standard Stratocasters from the 1980s and '90s. Key things to look for:
1. Walnut around the trussrod opening.
2. 2 point bridge w/ pressed powdered metal saddles.
3. The "Swimming Pool" pickup route.
4. 22 frets with a small "lip" or "ledge" at the heal of the neck.

There are other things to look for, but you'll need to watch the videos to find them out. My goal is to prevent people from getting robbed. Go armed when you buy a guitar.

Good Job Paris! Along with the truss rod plug, the trem cover is also a dead giveaway, if the middle screws are parallel, It is NOT an American made Strat.

Thanks for your comment. Wow! I never thought about that. I'll need to remember that.
