Hi all,
Trying to identify my strat - So far I've only discovered that it was made in 2001-2002 at the Corona plant based on the serial #. I've always thought it was a standard strat and the original owner upgraded everything... but I'm not sure. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Yes looks like an American Standard with upgraded tuners, pickups , guard and controls but I have been fooled so email fender at consumerrelations@fender.com and give them the serial number. :D

Just wondering why the strings are loaded on the tuners backwards ?

Glad you mentioned that. I was staring at the headstock trying to figure out why the B string wasn't under the tree. Thought maybe my eyes were going crazy. Perhaps I just need another cup of coffee.

Not only that - the guitar has locking tuning pegs, so why are there a fair amount of string windings visible, at least on the low E string?

I also agree - it's a 2001 American Series body, neck and trem with some components of a circa 1993-97 Strat Plus Deluxe added to it. The pickguard assembly came from a Strat Plus Deluxe with that kind of "white blonde burst" finish they had during that time frame (that finish was new in either 1993 or 1994 - I don't believe I ever saw one in that color that didn't have the LSR nut or the mini-Floyd trem) and those had that reddish tortoise-shell pickguards. It's a Plus Deluxe from the blue and red logo Lace Sensors; I would assume the middle is a silver logo but the logo is more worn off. The satin-finish Fender/Schaller tuners would have also been standard on a Strat Plus/Strat Plus Deluxe.

It makes me wonder if the original owner had a Strat Plus Deluxe in that white blonde burst finish that was damaged, so they put the parts they liked on a 2001 American Series Strat. I suppose it could be a complete parts guitar; I would check with Fender (consumerrelations@fender.com) to see if that serial number tracks to a sunburst American Series Strat.

This is somene's project guitar. It's not an actually Fender model. It's a mix of parts from at least two guitars, a '01 or '02 American Series Strat (body, neck and bridge) and an older Strat Plus Deluxe from the '90s (pickups and tuning keys). The pickguard is probibly aftermarket, as well as the knobs.

Having said all of that, I bet the guitar a good player. Value wise, I'd say that if spent about $700 - $800, you didn't get ripped off.

Did the seller tell you anything about the guitar, it's origins and such?

Thought it might be a project guitar of sorts. I think I spent somewhere around $700 about 10 years ago. Not a guitar I played very often. In the market to sell it, so thanks for giving a value assessment. Definitely plays well.

Thanks for the thorough assessment - I'll email Fender and see what they dig up.

You'd be surprised how little I know about guitar tech.. but at how well I can play one. As I say as an actor.. Whatever works. Book the job.

No, purchased it from a store used about 10 years ago. All of the work was done by the original owner.

Thank you to everyone for the input - Will email Fender to get their thoughts. Selling this guitar, and a few others. If anyone had any other price/value ideas about this model, or thoughts on a sale price, feel free to post. Cheers.

You might want to consider parting it out. You might get more for it, or you might not.
